If you're already in the upgrade program from last year, Citizens already has your ss numbers. Only those signing up for the first time had to give it. This year, it seems you can initiate the upgrade program and credit check, etc online, instead of having to do it all in the store.

Correct another credit check will be run upon establishing a new payment plan in store. Just like last years process. The online credit check is only for NEW plan initiates. Existing plan participants have to undergo the whole credit process in store after returning previously financed phone.

Wait… so if I check again now all the stores in North Carolina now have multiple colors of the 7 available for Vzn. Have they been increasing stock? Does anyone know if more 7+ are coming?

I had called in to complain to Apple about not being able to upgrade and they said they'd send me updates via email. I got an email the other day saying more phones were being set aside for the upgrade program. I checked the web site and was amazed that a Black 128 GB 7 Plus (AT&T) was available at a nearby Apple Store, so I set up a reservation for tomorrow.

I'd recommend checking stores again since Apple is allowing reservations again after originally telling people to come back Saturday.

Baring that I guess you can join the class action lawsuit.

Because of the recent news about Pluses not being available during launch, I'm just going to order on the Apple Online Store and practice patience.

My question is, if I do the iPhone Upgrade Program (will be my first time), will my credit card be charged immediately or when the iPhone ships in November?

The way it works is that you take out a loan when you receive the phone in store. They charge the sales tax a deposit for your first installment on your credit card, and then you can set up a payment account with the bank. Later on that first installment gets reversed and your regular payment gets taken out of the account you set up when you purchased the phone.

so..

...I called apple sunday and was told they'd get back with me about a 32gb iphone 7 pluss matte black. never heard anything, so I was able to reserve a 128gb through apple a couple days ago when inventory popped up. well....I just received an email saying I have a 32gb reserved.

so now I have a iphone 7+ matte black reserved in 128gb and 32gb.

So, I got to the store for my 8 AM upgrade reservation. After waiting around for 20 minutes I was told that the 7:30 am phone shipment hadn't come in yet so there were no Apple upgrade phones available yet and to come back later in the day. This was after driving a half hour and then waiting 20 minutes outside. Now I have to fight rush hour traffic to leave an area with horrible traffic only to come back later.

The good news (and I wish I knew about this earlier) is that they are holding reserved phones all day. Normally they hold them for 3 hours (also something I didn't know). They are open until 9 pm so other than the wasted time and gas of driving back and forth to the store twice, I won't lose much (unless the shipment never comes in).

Hard credit hit for existing 100% on time customers is kind of a kick in the teeth. I have a reservation at 6pm, to show up or not to show up.

A single hard credit hit a year won't affect your credit score and it drops off after 2 years. You need to have 3 or 4 hits before it starts to have an effect and it really doesn't cause issues until you get to around 6.

I had 2 hits from shopping for a car last year and it had no effect on my score whatsoever or if it did it only dropped a few points.

Home purchase in the next year, trying to be disciplined. Furthermore, risking a hit to be denied would be even worse. I remember last year, the approval process seemed to have no rhyme or reason.
