Over the next couple weeks you’re going to see a LOT of your apps have new updates… even if the app hasn’t been touched in a year previously. :)

So just like iPhone and iPad apps on the Mac, this will do absolutely no good and have no effect because every developer will opt out.
This - and I'm always amazed at how many Apps opted out of the MacApp store - apps that do not have any type of desktop equivalent at all.

Curious how much an unopened VP headset would fetch if left alone for 15 years? If an unopened original iPhone sells for 150-200K then imagine this.

Based on the body of work by the extremist pessimists, it's not worth $3500 at purchase. So 15 years from now, you'd probably have to pay the auction winner many hundreds of thousands to take it off your hands... and even then, good luck with that because this is absolutely nothing for anyone to use or enjoy in any way... not even for the investor buyer expecting to wait 15 more years to realize an even bigger ROI. ;)

On the other hand, the fan extremists at the other end of the spectrum would probably start the bidding by offering all of Australia and then up it to all of Africa as the bidding heats up. ;)

To the smaller(?) number of people in between the extremes, this is a well-publicized concept. What makes originals sell well is not too many originals "in box" up for auction. If a LOT of people do this, too much supply will probably keep bidding low. A great strategy would be to secretly do this while convincing every other user to open and use theirs.

It’s interesting that for all the complaining we all (myself included) do about a lot of Apple’s decisions, they seem to be getting the benefit of the doubt solely based on past success. Pretty good image the company has managed to maintain. Contrast that with Microsoft, or god help you, Google.

really, FFmpeg Command Generator? That’s some nerdy example. Looks like a mighty fine app, though, just downloaded it on my ipad.

Looking forward to seeing high quality apps in the new App store over time
