AVP 2 another flop...... Do you think they will cut the price? Maybe in half to compete?

The AVP has sold more units than the Apple Car, if we’re comparing R&D returns. 🤷‍♂️
 
Apple's secrecy goes against AVP here. With so many rumors which may or may not be true, we simply don't know how long Apple will support this. Obviously 3rd party app development is already impacted with small sale & no foreseeable revenue size in AVP app market.

With that, this is just a big VR display thing that cost more than 3000.
Good for those enjoying it, but I'd rather get a XDR display.

News story of layoffs in that division - that will largely provide some clarity for anyone considering the AVP development, i.e., apple is moving away from that product

I've had my M2 AVP (bought used) for a couple of months now. I love this thing but I'm increasingly finding that I don't have much use for it. Movies are amazing with it, but I feel very cutoff from my family while watching them. Mac Virtual display is excellent for around the house but when I have a dock setup with two external displays it's just easier to use that most of the time. I want to use it for travel but it's a little unwieldy for that too - I need to carry other stuff but the AVP fills up the whole backpack!

As much as I love the tech I think I'm ready to ditch it before it collects too much dust or becomes obsolete.

Oh yeah I saw that. The new rumor in the article is about the 60 employees laid off from the VR team. The part about Ternus canceling development was a recounting of older reports, as I said.

This is a very typical report, not just of AVP but for most VR HMDs historically.

I remain unconvinced that this general form factor will ever get traction in the mainstream, no matter what happens with content for such a product.

A headset for mainstream is definitely a tough nut to crack. It might be possible with very compelling content and more comfortable better looking hardware, and at a reasonable price. But that's a lot of things that have to come together which I don't foresee happening soon.
Regarding content, it would have to be an inexhaustible catalogue (likely third party and user created a la YouTube) of extremely high fidelity experiences that make you 99% feel like you are actually somewhere fantastical that you couldn't practically go in real life (eg. first row seats at the Superbowl, a space walk, etc) that fills every niche and interest, like YouTube. Can't say for sure even that would do it of course, but the fact that this type of high fidelity content hasn't been possible with headsets until now leaves room for the possibility. But at the current limited catalogue with a relatively large headset at a high price, a headset like the VP will be more relegated to certain types of professionals and tech enthusiasts.

I completely disagree if anything they’re just re-organizing/restructuring. I think they’ll continue to work on visionOS for the smart glasses. They come out with next year possibly a year or two down the line. We’ll see an actual successor to the Vision Pro M5. I purchased a Secondhand Vision Pro off of eBay almost 5 months ago and I use the thing every day instead of my iPad Pro. At this point I use it for my 2-D gaming on my PS5 and Nintendo switch two along with my media consumption and web browsing and light data entry with a keyboard or voice to text like right now

Yes, smart glasses, not the Apple Vision Pro. Hate to say it, but the product was a very expensive failure on Apple's part. They misread the audience, and the market on this.
