Apple's Vision Pro headset is available with three different storage options, today's pre-order process has revealed.

apple-vision-pro.jpeg

The Vision Pro headset is available with 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage. While the existence of a 256GB model was confirmed upon Apple's announcement of the headset's release date earlier this month, the other specific storage options and their price points were unknown until pre-orders opened earlier today. The pricing for each of storage options is as follows:

  • 256GB: $3,499
  • 512GB: $3,699
  • 1TB: $3,899

The only other added cost is reading or prescription ZEISS lens inserts for those who need them. The Vision Pro launches in the U.S. on Friday, February 2.

That face scan took me 3 times before it would finally work/complete Scan #2. Never have I had an issue with any of the face scanning on my iPhone until of course this morning when I was rushing to order this.

For a second I saw only a $400 delta between the lowest and highest storage and thought Apple found God.

Then I realized the highest storage was only 1tb and they want $400 dollars for what costs $75 retail.
That’s Apple for you in recent years. The cost of flash storage has been halved multiples times since Apple last cut their storage upgrade prices.

My order got processed pretty quickly, but the prescription upload to Zeiss was broken for people who already had prescriptions loaded into the Health App. You can select your prescription, but the Continue button never enabled. I had to start the upload process again and this time chose the option to take a photo of my prescription. That worked like a charm. Got the 1TB version. In for a penny, in for a pound.

Perception is such a funny thing. When I saw these prices I was like "oh that is not too bad going from 256 GB to 1 TB" but there is this small detail of a 3 in front of it 😀 looking at 400 bucks on its own, is a different story

I just uploaded a PDF that I saved to Files. My optometrist emailed my prescription last week. Let’s see how competent Zeiss is in shipping the lenses. Apple claims verification will take 1 business day.

I got the 512, i have a 1 tb iPad Pro and I have 546 GB availabe with it loaded so it should be ok.
I have a 1TB iPad Pro that's almost full, but since 90% of that is downloaded movies, I figure if I run out of space, I'll just stream.

Surprised at how stable the preorder experience was…I was expecting it to crash like during the pandemic and people were trying to purchase the RTX 3080/3090…

I didn’t preorder…too rich for my blood and I don’t want to wear a headset that is this heavy…

How many people do you think can afford this? I did not expect the site from crashing at all. I know people in the US love to buy things in installments as well but 300$ per month still looks insane to me

The fact that it has been 18 min and it hasn’t sold out yet is insane to me…

Lack of interest = bad sign for this product?

Anyone take a close look at the available accessories? A travel case for $199, extra battery for $199, and a Belkin battery holder for $49.95. There will be third party stuff for all of these on Amazon within the next few weeks for a fraction of the price.

Nice thing is that you can order the Zeiss optical inserts and light seal separately, which means you can share.
