There's no mention of spatial glue. How do the cards stick to that vertical board? Surely they would just fall off or are we just ignoring physics? Are they using post-it notes to stick? Wouldn't a flat horizontal board be more logical. One that lies flat on the board. Shouldn't the cards have some perspective?

Improvements:

1. Make the board lie flat on a table.
2. Have the cards on the flat horizontal table i.e. they would have perspective and the ones at the top would be further away.

All obvious stuff but might actually be fun almost.

Apple and holding various senior level positions, it was time to retire and enjoy life
Yep, perfect timing,...run whilst you can! I'm sure he will "retire" and not take a position elsewhere. Just waiting on the announcement 😉

Not likely with 36 years at Apple. And possibly working at other companies before joining Apple, along with his years in college.

Also... as I said earlier, holding senior level positions at Apple for such a long period of time, likely means he was well compensated. And, has significant Apple stock that's worth many millions. Something he can live off for the years he has left enjoying life.

Working in Silicon Valley for a long time, I know many people who retired in their 50s. That's certainly not unusual.

Try not to reflexively assume the most nefarious possibility.

Not without spatial controllers, they can't, for the most part.
I don’t mean everything but some. I mean they made synth riders kinda work Though i miss the force feedback…. but there have to be more immersive games that can exist with hand control. At least something to demonstrate the power and clarity this thing can have in VR. Hell I’d be happy being able to wander around the environments at this point lol

Or just buy a deck of playing cards?
People have played solitaire on computers costing thousands of dollars for decades now.

Nothing special about solitaire coming to another computer.

The only concerning thing is that there aren't also many announcements of more technologically advanced titles coming to the Vision Pro.

There are some ports that have already been announced such as Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator.
Maybe the Moss games could be tweaked to work with gamepad + hands. But that would reduce their potential customer base to only those who also own gamepads.

Unless things have changed since I last check, Vision Pro's hand tracking has more latency than Quest's hand tracking, so even games that can run with only hand tracking on the Quest devices still may not be a straightforward port

Would be cooler if it made use of AR so that the cards sat on an actual physical table in front of you, rather than in a hovering virtual screen.

Chess.com should do an AR app too!

Crossy Road is lazy as hell... they show the menus in world... then the game is jsut in a window. Awful.

Could have taken it out of the traditional boring scrolling window and had the whole level in vision at once. you'd also have some depth. Even the few 'endless' scrolling bits could have kept the character in the middles with the works fading out to the edges. So damn lazy.

I think it's a smart move by Apple to bring these popular games to the Vision Pro. Personally, I've always been a fan of games like Crossy Road Castle and Solitaire Stories for their blend of fun gameplay and relaxation.

Maybe. If it worked great. I played chess on the avp and it looked great. But it doesn’t work great. It’s a pia to grab a chess piece and move it. Simple as that.

It’s more work than it should be. A lack of precise controls. Takes too much focus.

Great first comment.

If you turn on the eye tracking marker dot you can see that it wobbles. Makes it very hard to select very small objects particularly if their size isn't much bigger than the dot.
