Apple has released a new Environment for Apple Vision Pro, called Lake Vrangla, which is close to Oslo in Norway.

Apple Vision Pro's passthrough cameras are designed to show the wearer their physical surroundings, allowing them to place apps and other digital objects within the room. However, using the Digital Crown, users can switch to full virtual reality and block out the real world using a selection of Environments.

The new Lake Vrangla Environment is available to all users as a simple download, which can be initiated from the Environments tab of the Home View, regardless of whether users are running visionOS 1 or the visionOS 2 beta.

Like Mount Hood, the foggy new environment has a night version that offers a calming sunset scene, and any video viewed over the lake will reflect in the water.

This release follows Apple's announcement that the Bora Bora Environment will be included in visionOS 2 later this year. Its arrival will complete the current Environments menu, making all 13 listed options fulfilled and usable.

I was thinking the same thing.

That picture looks like an environment you'd see in a horror movie. Kinda creepy...

🤔
Ok I actually wanted to read comments about this because that was my impression too. That Environment makes me long for a crowded Starbucks in daylight 😳

I’ve never seen the movie reflection on the water before. That is very impressive!

The AVP could gain an "unlimited money" environment that somehow turns into reality and I still wouldn't buy it. Okay, I would buy it in this scenario, but I would immediately throw the AVP in the trash where it belongs upon getting my money. 😂

My feedback to Apple:

We are not all big outdoors people. Could we get an Environment in a more civilized location like San Francisco, London or Paris?

A couple of ideal outdoor locations would be Monument Valley and Machu Picchu. I think both would be amazing!

Have you considered Environments from licensed content? Make the Disney Tatooine Environment available along with your other Environments. How about a Star Trek bridge Environment where movies are shown on the view screen?

You would choose London of all places? Have you ever been there? The weather is atrocious. Good people though.

Edit: I'm just teasing folks...mostly. 🙂

I have to sort of agree with the posters above. I use the AVP to work and a lot of the environments are pretty bleak and dreary. The bora bora one is good and sort of makes me feel like hey I like being in this environment to get my work done. But yeah the others are pretty depressing.

Maybe they need to protect the OLED from deteriorating too quickly.

Ah yes the Digital Crown, also known back here in analogue reality as a knob.

Environments would be more interesting if users could make their own. “Forget this, I’m gonna make my own environment, with… blackjack.. and… in fact forget the blackjack…”
