Do MacBook pros and iPhone pros come with a carrying case? No.
Ah those were the days… I remember them well(ish). 🙂

My G3 Powerbook in 1998 came with one.

Nostalgia, I know, I know… but those where lovely machines.

Apple were making their big Steve Jobs iCEO come back and it was wonderful.

In 20 years why would you want a version 1 of this?

I wouldn't. But people collect Apple products and other tech products, and first editions in sealed boxes are highly sought after. A 1st gen iphone can get $20k on ebay. An original Lisa, or Newton can get even more.

This is true.
Except, except this time around you're not the only one doing it.

MacRumours is chockablock of posts of people planning to do that.

Might as well just buy one and enjoy it!

I've tried the various Oculus VR headsets, along with their virtual desktop application - which lets you simulate a giant screen and connect your PC to it.

If apple have a genuinely good dual 4k display and can get the AR working right, then it'd be pretty cool to actually see my mouse and keyboard and the world around me and have a big floating screen in front of me.

I'm not sure how much better this will be than the Oculus/meta desktop app though. I've seen the magic and it looks cool, but is it worth spending a few thousand to do it the Apple way?

Ah, I thought you were meaning the person, not the headset (probably cos someone else mentioned the person looking weird earlier in the thread). Yeah, I agree that face computers are stupid.
Oh she looks cool 😎

The more I see the more I have doubts that a device that costs almost $4k after taxes will be a runaway hit that some users believe.

I don’t want to hear what it can potentially do… I want to know what ar/vr experience is worth four thousand dollars.

I want to get excited for this but I can't. I know Apple want this to be the next iPhone but the iPhone at launch felt like a magical product. A phone that could replace the iPod and access the internet therefore replacing your desktop/laptop. For 2007 it was so ahead of its time especially with the implementation. Yeah you could get a phone that played mp3s and let you browse the web but the way Apple put it together was just amazing.

This just feels like an average mixed reality headset except it's Apple. Outside of teething issues I'm sure the hardware will be good quality and it's running a varient of iOS. One positive I can see about it is "It's not Meta" lol.

The price needs to be much cheaper and developers need to do their thing by creating apps and uses for it. Early adopters need to support this thing until it gets to a sane price.

Let me know when we have a standard non pro or SE model and there is a proven use. Oh and a battery life that lasts more than a couple hours lmao. If I bought this I'd just plug it in to the wall all the time.

I don't even think the AR/VR stuff is the killer feature of this. It's the eye tracking. If it's as good as they say it is, I believe this is simply Apple trying to apply a revolutionary new input method to the constrained tech of the day. The way I see it, the real power would be in applying this eye trakcing and the little lobster finger move to ambient computing. Imagine unlocking your front door as you walk up my looking at it, adjusting the temperature in your house with a glance and a pinch, etc.

Maybe I'm totally off here, but I think the goggles are just too awkward. Even as sunglasses they would be weird in a lot of interactions.

Let’s be honest if you’ve the cash to splash on an AVP then you have either written it off as a business expense or Apple saw you coming from a mile away. Either way they’ll fleece you for a case and as many optional extras as possible.

Well, I guess you could call it that, but it only really covers part of the device to prevent scratches, not unlike the "Cover for Front Glass" that the Vision Pro comes with.
and it's not lined up properly with charging port. Airpods Max suck as a product in whole. Heavy af, no 3.5 jack, no passive mode, no power button, no usb-c. All in all total crap. Sold it for 300EUR few days back.

What keeps these light seals from becoming loaded with bacteria and causing breakouts? Washable Silicon would better as meta found out

I wonder why the latest Apple movies like "Napoleon" are not in 3D. The battle scenes are among the best that were ever made. They would be perfect for the Vision Pro.
