Johny Ive is no longer at Apple, but Tim continues on a path that has not worked out in any way - maybe he misses him, and I do too, but Tim doesn't seem like one. The Watch Series 0 also had an absurd sales model. Finally, it was Tim and other eggheads who came up with the idea of returning Apple to the people, cooperation with Nike, no idiotically priced gold model, and normal distribution.

Start removing the boring negative VP comments that show-up in every MacRumors article about VP.

Apple has localized Vision Pro pages in South Korea
Does this mean that K-Pop acts are going to follow in The Weeknd's footsteps (literally) and launch "Apple Immersive Videos" for the Vision Pro? 👀

Because if one of the groups that like to promote Apple products (like, say, NewJeans) start promoting the Apple Vision Pro, I think K-Pop fans might actually be willing to spend surprising amounts of money to buy the device.

The first iPhone sold 1.4 million in 12 months. These days they sell over 220 million each year. This isn't Pippin; it's AppleTV, which was called "Steve Jobs' Hobby" because they kept working on it although it sold very few units annually. This will get lighter, faster, cheaper. Go to X and search "Apple Vision Pro" for examples of what some are doing with it.

I agree: there's no "killer app" yet. There's no one killer app for computers or smart phones either; we've just become used to using them for many things in our lives. This is another digital device whose utility (because of weight and cost) is still being developed toward a better UX. And there are over 1,000,000 apps for it, EVEN IF they are not optimized for spatiality. The same app on my iPhone and my MacBook have differences, but they still work in ways that are useful to me.
The Apple TV is a good product, fast, cheap and reliable, it’s so affordable that buying one is a good idea even if you’re not an apple person because it can work just fine on its own.

Now buying an AVP is a really bad idea in the vast majority of scenarios….

Ah well that's the thing. It's not hard for a developer to make apps cross VR/AR headsets. The trick is, what's the killer app?
Having no “killer app” that showcases how “spatial computing” improves productivity for most of us is definitely a huge problem for the AVP.

I”m not so sure about cross-headset development. I think making apps for multiple traditional headsets (vive, meta, etc.) is relatively simple but they all share native support for AR/VR controllers as a core concept. Not sure the AVP belongs in that same group.

I just watched Silo S2 E1. It looks great on Vision Pro. If you go Reddit, there are complaints that it is too dark on the TV. VP is oled and looks as good as my LG 77 G4, just bigger 😆
I don’t doubt what you say about your experience with the AVP due to the micro-OLED displays, but IMHO the general complaints about a show looking too dark on the TV is only an indication that the vast majority of people simply own average to low end TVs, and/or those are uncalibrated or poorly calibrated. A lot of people also give little thought to how much ambient light is in the room when they are watching.

I’m reminded of similar complaints towards the end of Game of Thrones years ago, including colleagues at work. But at the time, I was still rocking an old plasma Panasonic TV and I saw details in the dark scenes without trouble.

I've been at the Final Cut Pro Creative Summit all week, and a couple of us have brought our Vision Pros and given demos to curious people. Everyone who's tried it has loved it, and at least a few have bought it or are now seriously considering it.

I've found that the Annapro head strap makes a *huge* difference to how the device feels for long-term comfort, in no small part because you can remove the light seal. This obviously doesn't provide total immersion but it's fine in a darker room, and is especially important if you're sharing your device with anyone wearing make-up!

Apple have given many private demos during the conference too, but personal demos including spatial photos and videos are the best. It's pretty great to take a spatial photo of someone while they're wearing the AVP and then AirDrop it to them.

With so few owners, why would any potential devs want to make apps for it? What is apple doing to get more developers?
Because these few ( 400 k probably ) are the ones with the money.

I own one and I did not hesitate a single second to buy a maxed out plus Apple Care for roughly € 5 k and I could afford to buy pricey APPs n case I wanted to.

People who constantly complain are normally not the ones spending tns of money n content.

South Korea and UAE have 75% and 85% market share, respectively, for Android.

Whoever at Apple decided to launch in those countries probably knew it was gonna fail no matter what. But at least they now have another reason to blame the poor sales. Smart thinking. Next, Apple will launch India where Android is 95% and median monthly income is $300.
That is some tortured logic.

If Apple wants to end the VisionPro, they can just do it. They don't need to introduce it in two more countries as some kind of excuse. That makes NO sense. Is it something YOU would do if you were in charge?

You are so right...which is why UAE has no luxury market at all. Errr...wait a minute...scratch that...

I've been to Dubai. Sometimes wealthy people signal to others in subtle ways (a $20k handbag that only other wealth-conscious would know costs $20k) and sometimes it is quite obvious, if not garish (a white gold plated Mercedes...parked next to two others just like it).

My very simple observation (which also applies elsewhere, but REALLY applies to UAE) is that the top 1% is all that matters. Apple doesn't need 15% or even 5%...but the top 1% will buy one without even checking the price. And that's 50-100,000 sales this holiday season alone.
I've never been to the UAE or South Korea, but I have seen "Crazy Rich Asians". Apple will sell a bunch of these as party favors at bridal showers.
