I also wonder how receptive the general public will be to the Vision Pro's UI/UX. It's the exact opposite of what Apple has been doing for decades now with touch. Jobs was 100% correct about how touch makes our devices feel more personal. With nothing to touch, will people connect with Vision Pro in the same way? I doubt it.

I can just imagine someone on a plane with an AVP ... waving and pinching in mid air like a crazy person

I mean, would you be okay if AR glasses ever became mainstream and everyone was wearing one and you wonder if the person you are talking to was secretly streaming Netflix right in front of you even as you are trying to hold a conversation with him?

It seems like any social concerns, be it legitimate or imagined, would apply either way.
Not any different from what’s happening today. People browsing their phones while talking, sharing contents, leading to expanded conversations.

In short yes. In this setting, we all feel present and still connected.

Wearing a true AR device is like wearing airpods with ambient sound on. You can hear your surroundings and communicate effectively. You are not fully isolated.

Meanwhile, wearing the current version of VP is like wearing a noise cancellation over ear headphone at best. You are fully inside your own bubble.

Poor analogy but I think it drives a point.

I don't see how this is more isolating than a "true AR" device (I assume you mean optical passthrough instead of video passthrough).
It may have the appearance of being more isolating, but I don't know that it is all that much different in practice. Sure, It makes you look more goofy, and that may lead to other people ignoring you.
The biggest practical differences are lower FOV and the opaque front... so it may be like trying to talk to someone wearing sunglasses (or not that bad, depending on how well eyesight works in practice)

Screens = your eyes.

Got it.
