The Apple Vision Pro headset will soon support NVIDIA's GeForce NOW cloud gaming platform, the company today announced.

NVIDIA announced at CES 2025 that it is collaborating with Apple to bring GeForce NOW to the Vision Pro using Safari, with updates to the platform expected to roll out later this month. This will enable users to access AAA titles with the power of NVIDIA's RTX technologies that leverage technologies like ray tracing and DLSS.

Apple Vision Pro owners will gain access to NVIDIA's extensive library of over 2,100 supported titles via the cloud, including upcoming AAA games such as Avowed and DOOM: The Dark Ages, without the need for local processing or a downloaded library. Using Safari eliminates the need for a Progressive Web App (PWA) installation, which has previously been a requirement on other Apple platforms.

GeForce NOW support on the Apple Vision Pro is set to debut later this month, with the rollout of GeForce NOW app version 2.0.70. Users will be able to stream games through Safari on the Vision Pro by navigating to the platform's website, play.geforcenow.com, once the update becomes available. In addition to the Vision Pro, GeForce NOW will soon support other mixed-reality headsets, including the Meta Quest 3 and Pico devices.

Tens of people are going to be stoked by this announcement. A new use case, that killer app.

Count me as one of those 10! I couldn't justify the AVP at launch, but then bought one about a month ago off Swappa, unopened box, and it's great. The Ultra WideScreen is really nice for productivity. This will be a lot of fun and maybe we'll get Xbox fully supported as well!

Fantastic news for Vpro owners who want to game.

I use GeForce Now through the Moonlight app on AppleTV to play any PC games on my biggest screen and best sound system in the home. It "(just) works" great... as if such games are running on that AppleTV. To add it to a virtual, mobile, any-size screen seems like quite a great thing.

Hate away at Vpro as some see fit... but there is no alternative tech that gives you a very high resolution, any-size screen anywhere you go in a relatively small size at a hard-fixed weight. No fold or roll is going to match it (else the weight would be insane) and projectors only work well in dark environments.

Why not release a native app?

Do you really need to ask? AVP is a closed platform, requiring app deployment only through Apple's App Store. Between the 30% cut and Apple's capricious content rules, it's likely not worth it for as small of an audience as the AVP has. As long as Apple makes the required technologies available within Safari, however, it becomes a win-win: Apple attracts an A-level brand to its platform, and the developer can deploy with minimal investment.

Apple is ever so slowly nudging its way toward a future where native apps for game streaming will become cost-effective on its App Store-based platforms. But we're not there yet.

I'd be more excited if I was more impressed with cloud gaming in general. I've never had an experience where I don't notice the lag, and it's a deal breaker in the kinds of games I like to play.
Really? I stream games sometimes using PS Plus and it’s fine. Connection is 300/300. I don’t have any issue besides the less than occasional stutter.

PS5 is connected via Ethernet.

It’s better to have a desktop with a GeForce RTX 4060 for $999, connect it to LAN and you can use the full power of your desktop in any peripheral, even TVs.

Install Apollo (or Sunshine) in your desktop and Artemis (or Moonlight) to your other device to have access.

There is also Parsec. I heard is better for apps (not gaming).

The Apple Vision Pro supporting GeForce NOW means that people can finally play Fortnite on an AVP 🤯
I've been doing that since I first got it. There's an App called XPlay that remotes to your xbox on the same network. What's crazy is the latency is less than a frame as I can see my real 55" inch TV underneath. my 120" Vision Pro virtual screen above it.
