I mean I think it’s great Apple has thought about it being used in such social surroundings but surely nobody is going to wear it as such?

The device / technology looks amazing. I can't wait to try them, and I can't wait to buy the first iteration of the 'cheaper' version. ($2500 ?)

A side note / observation from someone with a long retail background...

The theft situation with these is going to be insane. Robbery of Amazon Prime, Feds, and UPS trucks the day of and the day before launch is going to be unlike anything seen before. One truck with a hundred of these is more valuable than anything we've seen in this internet era, and a million times easier to steal than a Brinks money collection truck.

And store break-ins and grab and runs are gonna be so common. Yes, I realize that they will not just keep piles of them behind the counter, but people are going to get mugged / hurt / killed on the way to their cars after buying them. No, of course not everyone, but it will be more than just one or two isolated incidents.

Sure wish people were not like this...

Will it be able to reply to contact A in language A and language B to contact B if you always communicate in those languages with each contact? Siri certainly is still too dumb for that today and turns everything into gibberish

Now I can tell my wife that I have to buy the Vision Pro for our trip to Japan next year.
Just been there, Google Translate works well enough, as long as you're online (get an eSIM via Airalo). The problem is that Japanese can't really be translated without context, the translator must know what it's looking at to make sense of the text and the translation shifts wildly while the AI figures out the most probably context the more data it's gathering. I doubt Apple is anywhere near those capabilities, especially with the privacy settings enabled.

I cant understand this line of reasoning at ALL , there are much more valuable objects with much better resale value , watches , bags , cars , cash , what will be the black market of stolen AVP would look like ? your avg AVP customer is not the kind of person (on avg) that goes into a stolen good trade , and will probably avoid buying from a shady second hand dealer.
Is crime that common in the US where ppl just get robbed in the middle of the street routinely ?

I would reckon robbing the new owner of a Rolex/Cartier/Patek Philippe has infinite more ROI for the low life out there.

Im looking forward to walking around in a foreign country while wearing these

I expect the Googles to dial down immersion automatically to show the firearm pointed at me, translate the robber's demands and present a button to call the cops using just eye tracking and another button to pay my ransom on the fly after scanning the criminal's QR code.

Does it have an Expose type feature? I can imagine with windows all around you that one easy way of invoking an Expose that shows all open windows would be handy.

Something like Mission Control or Stage Manager should be relatively easy to add to visionOS 2.0 or 3.0.

Sorta agree, but the difference with Apple is that the launch of these will be the subject of saturation press coverage, so every man and his dog will know what it looks like and what it costs - which will be tempting to the dumber end of the criminal community.

I'm sure it'll happen, but I don't think it'll be that common. A Vision Pro that hasn't been activated yet but is stolen isn't as valuable; there's no support, you can't use any of Apple's services (since they're likely to blackliste the serial number), etc. A Vision Pro that has been activated is likely to have activation lock, and then when it's stolen it's basically worthless.

That feature or something similar can/will take AI to the next level. Right now, AI is trained via text from the internet. Imagine all that it can amass from going out in the world around it.

I still think about the fact that where I live it is increasingly 30C every day. For months. Why would I want to wear such a thing?
