According to Tim Bradshaw on Twitter he now reports to Jeff Williams not Tim Cook hence why he's no longer listed on the exec leadership page. Seems like much ado about nothing.

He's leaving Apple to open room for the new position of VP of Emoji's.
What's funny about the recent focus on emoji is that for years Apple would block users from using emojis outside of Japan and you had to find a special app to "unlock" the emoji keyboard so you could turn it on in the settings. Maybe Jobs and Forstall knew emojis would be the downfall of Apple, lol.

Hmm... maybe the problem is that after the pile of crap emoji came out, too many products became based on that principle. Hence now pile of crap is the standard.

She has run the Apple Stores smoothly (which is actually her job description). But I guess you think they run just themselves perfectly fine.
There was nothing THAT wrong with how it was being run before. Some would say it was better. If anything the template was more or less left for her to follow. Everything already set up. She has brought nothing new to the table other than some trees.

But then neither has Ron Johnson after the initial setup.

Sad. Apple blames lower level managers instead of upper management. Typical corporate nonsense. In the least Tim Cook and Eddie Cue need to be fired. Phil and Jony (designing ugly Christmas trees while the new Macbook Pro underwhelms and under performs) going would be even better. Too many dropped balls and ZERO innovation. Apple needs new blood or they're going to end up like Palm, Nokia, Atari...

All special projects are put to a hold, to focus back on important stuff neglected for too long.
Rumors are he got the sack for misplacing the Macbook Pro badge onto the early released Macbook Air.
Also, no more watch bands, cars and coffee table books

Hmm, if you're referring about the all in to USB-C, Apple has historically remove ports for newer ones.

I do miss SD slot removal but I don't mind using proper card readers
This is something which hasn't brought up enough. Real Pro-people used proper fast SD-cards and fast USB-3 readers, not the USB-2 spec'ed internal reader of yesteryear's MBP.

Granted, a USB-3 capable SD-card reader in the new MBP would have helped some users. However life doesn't start - nor end - with having an internal reader or not. Admitted I'm biased as I cannot remember when I used such an SD-card for the last time.

Yup, and pro cameras usually use CF and XQD, what about them? Or they're too pro. Lol

seriously what major innovative has Apple provided under cook? the guy is more focused on getting his hardcore political views out instead of returning Apple to his former strength. Like it or not but others are catching up.

Also I have yet to see what Ahrendts provided other than being an expensive fashion hire they should have fired her and her stupid fashion first mojo. The Apple Watch should have been more than just a phone dependent gadget.

Personally I believe Federighi is the guy , he has the knowledge, experience and is still young enough to lead Apple for years. One high end position removed time to look even higher at Yves and company
I agree. Federighi has the hardware and software knowledge to come up with unique ideas. Seems Apple has a few ex-fashion industry people in high-up places - why? What kind of vision and innovative approach could they possibly bring to a tech company? "Lets make all our products come in rose gold"

don't forget thinner and lighter even almost no one asked for that and abandoning their bread and butter, the Mac Pro.

There are pro cameras that use SD (SDHC or SDXC). The Canon 1D and 5D can be used with both SD and CF.

What baffles me is that some 'Pro' users hate the fact the new MBP doesn't significantly faster render their images, but at the same time seem to be just fine with a painfully slow internal cardreader.

I wouldn't have minded if Apple included a USB 3 SD card reader in the new MBP. But to claim that the old MBP is still better because it has one, is pure neglection.

I go to my car, take my USB 3 reader out of the glove box, return to my desk while stopping at the coffee machine, insert it with my pro SDXC card into any post-war Macbook, and copy 64GB of raw files. Finidhing in chronologic order: copy my files, coffee, pro's copying same amount of data with their internal card reader.

Is this because the 5 year pipeline of promised "special projects" turned out to be just a color version of the Lenovo 2010 touchbar that shreds the battery and likely has cocked up the graphics card?

You know, I'm really glad to see someone reference Lenovo's idea (and subsequent failure). Didn't know if anyone really knew that Apple's new "magical" innovation was actually another company's creation from 7 years ago.

Although at least Lenovo's version was eink, so didn't have Apple's battery issues...

Is it really just a colour version of Lenovo's implementation? I guess the similarities are there, but wow... watching this guy review the Lenovo with its Touch Bar tech clearly shows why Apple has stayed away from touch screens on the Mac. Overall, not impressed by the Lenovo+Windows experience, but I know Apple's Touch Bar will really be top-class in terms of responsiveness and user experience.

The painful Lenovo review....

If he was the key guy who removed the headphone jack on the iPhone 7 and removed all the legacy I/O on the MacBook Pro...then yes, fire him.

That's quite a few years ago. The touchscreen experience on Windows 10 is great (when used as intended ie to seamlessly blend laptop into tablet use, with detachable screens or 360 hinges)
