I couldnt agree more. I broke mine. Verizon didnt mention apple care. So i didn't buy it. Have spent so much with apple over the years. So disappointed with the company totally changed my view of apple. I tell anyone that mentions the watch about the rippoff treatment by apple whenever it comes up. The replacement cost was highway robbery. So I didn't buy it. Had the watch for two months loved it. Now ive not had it for two years. Both verizon and apple didnt support me as a consumer. If they would have mentioned the cost of $380 to replace on the $420 watch, i would have bought applecare or a protective cover. The repair prices for cracked glass are beyond absurd. No friggen way it costs Apple anywhere that much to replace it. NONE!
My Nike Series 3 fell 3 feet off my night table on to a laminate wood floor that is not that hard and cracked badly. I’ve dropped 25 dollar Timex watches similarly, and no damage. NOTHING!
It also was accumulating a lot of scratches before it cracked. I mean all over.
Still pissed off to no end.
Something stinks about the durability of this watch. Stinks epically!!

buyer beware when working with apple.
Its a matter of not disclosing the high cost of repair in relation to the purchase cost of the item up front. And not allowing others to affordably do repairs.Yeah, I’m going to be ‘that guy’ that you’re not gonna like, but you can’t compare your ‘Timex’ watch to an Apple Watch, you’re talking a difference of weight, how the watch landed, different materials/construction, ect, just because your Apple Watch broke by your own doing, doesn’t mean that every Apple Watch has the same outcome from everyone elses experience. There are thousands of posts on this Apple Watch forum where other sport Apple watches have survived without any cracks against surfaces/scratches, drops, because every situation has a different outcome. It’s always easier to blame the product when it’s your own fault for something that happened, but others might completely have the opposite experience of yours.
Now, I agree that the Apple Watch display with the Ion-X Glass scratches easily (Which is why I upgraded to the stainless model with the sapphire display) , but the overall durability I was impressed with in terms of how it survives against daily encounters.
No its inordinately expensive to replace the face and supply of parts is controlled by apple. If honda said you could only buy windshields from honda and the glass was 90% of the cost of the car it would be comparable. If you crack your windshield car would be totaled. It’s called “getting totaled“. If you buy a $25k Honda Civic and run it into a tree, it’s going to cost too much to repair. You essentially have to buy a new car. It’s the same principle with all products. That’s why people buy insurance for expensive items.
Apple doesn't give a damn if you've been loyal to them. You're just another transaction in their eyes.Furthermore, I've literally owned every iPhone since the original, almost every single iPad, and a MacBook Pro. I've been a loyal Apple customer for many, many years and never had a repair. Am I wrong in asking for a bit of a loyalty discount also considering I _never_ hit my watch against anything that could have even caused the crack in the first place?

Disgruntled customers spread the word costing the company in the long run.
When my Apple watch just stopped it cost me $289 to sent to Apple for "repair" (I live 500 km from the nearest Apple store) They stated over the phone that I would be refunded depending on the repair cost and would notify me before they started repairs and let me know the cost. They just replaced it and took my money. Months and 3 "Senior consultants" later, I was refused a refund, despite one consultant saying I was entitled. I went to Western Australia's Consumer Affairs Department, giving them all my emails and replies and they got me a refund on the basis that I was never notified of the cost before they took ( stole?) It from me.Does anybody know of someone I can contact in Apple regarding an out of warranty for an Apple Watch?
I'm a little upset that they are asking $289 to repair my Series 3 (GPS+Cellular) Alumnium watch. The watch developed a crack across the entire face of the watch and then two days later it stopped working completely. The exact same watch is only $409 new from Apple, and recently sold brand new on Swappa for $230.
Yes, it's out of warranty and no I didn't purchase AppleCare+. Shame on me I suppose? However, I expected for the price of Apple products that an out of warranty repair wouldn't be so insane. I don't use my watch very often and as an IT developer I'm sitting at my desk 90% of my day so I have no idea how this crack developed.
