I remember there was an article on MacRumors after the AirPower reveal, either leak or reverse engineer of code, that Apple Watch hardware supports Qi charging but its disabled by software - code switch. Maybe Apple could just enable it with software update and this would not be an issue 🤷‍♂️
 
I bought a triple charger for phone AirPods and watch at Aldi the other days and while the phone and AirPods were charging at reasonable speeds but the watch part didn’t seem to charge at all. So yeah I can see the reasoning.
