Apples attack in sex is one of the most ridiculous things about them. All kids have access to hardcore porn all they want. Amazon books aren’t hurting anyone . If you have a problem try not giving kids phones 🤷🏻‍♂️

Typical North American reaction to nudity. But Tim Cook has no problem in promoting and displaying the lyrics for songs about mistreating women or violence or killing. Those who live in glass houses...

In this day with some of the things children and even baby's are exposed to, this almost seems moot. But I guess good on them for pointing it out.

I mean in principle just add content filters and be done with it, it's probably a good idea to find stuff anyway, but the whole principle of it is highly annoying.

Parents knowingly let their kids use the general service instead of the one specifically aimed at kids because they wanted some of its content, and then got upset because the general service contained material they thought was not appropriate for their kids.

In response the demand is then to introduce more content moderation, rather than just suggest they should use the service that's specifically tailored to kids. Parents could have also suggested additional content they thought should/could be available to kids, but no, moderation it is.

Where's parental responsibility in all of this?

Exactly! These days, babies have breasts shoved in their faces almost from birth! Some even suck them, I'm told. When will this filth stop? Apple, we're relying on you. /s

I wasn't thinking of the natural way to boost babies immune systems.

AFAIK even on Kindle Unlimited parent controls are available to set filters based on content type or rating.

Can’t Amazon just add some ****ing Parental Control OPTIONS like we’ve always ****ing had? Like come on…what’s the big deal. Make content filtration an option. Or is Amazon just trying to sully children’s minds with erotica written for soccer moms?

But yeah, at the end of the day I am always on the side of free speech if we have to be black-and-white about it :)
But you DO understand this has nothing to do with free speech and the first amendment, right? Companies can choose to do whatever they want with their content, even censor it. They are private companies, not the government.

Observed from where I am, it seems that humans who are aware are very rare. Most humans only know life but take knowing to be aware of life. But knowing and to be aware are not the same. Because of their unconditioned minds, small children flower freely as they trust and live life as it is. Because of their conditioned minds, adults wither imprisoned as they distrust and expect life as it should be. And from that conditioned, mistrustful state, adults pass on their beliefs under the cover of “free speech” to children, making it difficult for the latter to flower freely. As far as I am concerned, the best thing that could happen to any child is adults who evolve to be aware of their own conditioned imprisoning minds which delude them into believing that they are free.

in the Reuters news:
Kindle Unlimited also has spawned a cottage industry of self-published titles catering to a wide range of interests, including text-based erotica, with many thousands of titles in niche areas, including dinosaur and alien erotica.
dinosaur erotica. aha…

Amazon shouldn’t forget to remove illustrated books about art - other than flower paintings. Think about the horror of a book about Florence, showing a frontal picture of Michelangelo’s David statue…

Many are missing a key element of the article. The books in many cases are self published. There is no “review” process I am aware of for the book to be added. You can’t just strap a rating system to books that have no rating system (like movies or video games)

But you DO understand this has nothing to do with free speech and the first amendment, right?

You mentioned the 1A, not him. He simply said that he sides on the free speech side, which means that he simply wants to enable free speech as laws and also as platform’s policies. I am the same way, I am for free speech so I think that content distributors (such as twitter, Facebook, etc) should allow offensive content, and more. I don’t understand why there is this fashionable attitude in which as soon someone mentions “free speech” it’s immediately linked to government intervention (that is, 1A) when one is simply talking about the larger context in the life of private citizens and corporations. I guess it’s a way to quickly dismiss any conversation using a technical point.

Companies can choose to do whatever they want with their content, even censor it. They are private companies, not the government.

Agreed.
