I have showered with my S0 over 700 times and no problems.

I've only showered with my S0 a couple times, and always found the speakers to be 'tinny' for a few hours afterwards, but no permanent damage whatsoever. Guess I could have answered my own question. Just wondered if Apple say anything specific about the AW being exposed to soap/shower gel/shampoo and if those could be corrosive over time.

Apple does specifically state,

"Showering with Apple Watch Series 2 is ok, but we recommend not exposing Apple Watch to soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and perfumes as they can negatively affect water seals and acoustic membranes. Apple Watch should be cleaned with fresh water and dried with a lint free-cloth if it comes in contact with anything other than fresh water."

But the danger is probably much more minimal than the text would have you believe. My guess is it is more of CYA thing, because like others, I shower with mine and have haven't had any issues.

I do get that bit of tinny sound for maybe an hour after my long swims too. I think it's from the water not fully being cleared from the speaker?

On a slightly off-topic but relevant note: does anybody shower with an S2? Does it cope well with soap and stuff?

According to the AW User Guide, you should avoid exposing the watch to contact with:

  • Perfume, soap, solvents, detergent, acids or acidic foods, soapy water, insect repellent, lotions, sunscreen, oil, or hair dye.

Thought as much.

If you believe you have additional water that has not been fully cleared from the speaker, you can do the following.

"To manually clear water from Apple Watch, swipe up on the bottom of the watch face to open Control Center, tap Water Lock, then turn the Digital Crown to unlock the screen and clear water from the speaker. "

I've been showering and swimming with my AW0 for almost 2 years at this point (knock wood.)

I simply gently blow on the speaker after getting out of water, and it mostly clears the water like the newer model does automatically. No biggie.
