thinner, more battery and more power.

most likely not going to happen all at once, but would be perfect ;)

Cellular and gps are the only things that could make me consider one. Still don't know that I'd go for it, but the current state of iPhone dependence makes it a bizarrely pointless product (for me). The ability to fully use it without a phone would make it vastly more compelling.

If the AW2 requires an additional data plan, I still better be able to piggyback off of the 15GB w/rollover plan I currently have with AT&T. No way am I paying an additional fee to have my AW added to my plan along with the two iPhone's currently on it.

I know it's too early to speculate, but I'll hold on to my AW if this is the case.

I imagine they'd let you piggyback, but will probably charge you $20/month for the privilege.

Means that i want a round smartwatch. Nothing more, nothing less.
What kind of display do you favor? Traditional analog? Because I can tell you that the modular display favored by a lot of users on this forum would look really awkward set into a round display. I've looked at the Moto displays and blocks of text don't look good.

It's not really a watch anymore. It's a data center on your wrist. The concept is different and for it to be efficiently implemented form has to follow function. You can do it the round way, as many Android device manufacturers do, but for the most part the effect really is like forcing a square peg into a round hole once you dig past the initial watch face and try to get at your other data.

Still, you like what you like, I'm not going to argue with you about that. For your sake and for other round watch aficionados I hope someday Apple finds a way to do round in a functional and aesthetically pleasing manner. I personally don't care what shape they end up with as long as it's done well.

I buy 3 on the spot if its round.
What's with the infatuation with round watches? Square watches look just fine, and more functional with an electronic screen than round watches?
[doublepost=1461597821][/doublepost]LTE seems like a surprising addition given that it drains battery, but perhaps Apple has been pleasantly pleased by the Watch's real-world battery performance. After all, if it already lasts the entire day for most people with 30-40% left, there isn't really much incentive to try to stretch it to more (as it would still likely need daily recharging). The Wall Street Journal isn't likely to put out such a rumor if they weren't confident in the source.

Anyway, I'm guessing it is still intended primarily as a companion device, but could gain some "independence." Perhaps this is why they are waiting to release the newer model (get the chip technology right and optimize performance and battery life).

It looks like it's $10 at the moment on AT&T Mobile Share Value plans, the same as a tablet. I'd much rather keep the current tethered model than pay another $120 a year for standalone cellular service, but then again there are maybe 2 times in the past year I felt like I couldn't do something with my watch because I didn't have my phone around.

Faster, better battery, cellular capable.

I would love, but doubt we'll get all three.

This baffles me. Why would you want the Apple Watch to have its own cellular connection? You really have an interest in calling folks from your watch? You want yet another device added to your mobile bill? Really don't get it.

GPS I can understand.

Waterproof I can understand.

Longer battery life I can understand.

hehe... speaking clearly

George Jetson reality hour. Users will see the battery drop faster than a led balloon. The watch gets a day (or so) now,,, isn't that the original reason, and probably still stands, as Apple *didn't* do any of this ?

So, what has changed dramatically ?

The S1 CPU is built on a 28nm process. If the S2 is built on TSMC's 16nm or Samsung's 14nm process, it can be faster while drawing significantly less power.

Covering a few different topics here.... :apple:Watch & iPhone 6+

I wore rectangular analogue watches. So the current shape works for me. But that's for me. Nothing wrong with other people preferring round. And if Apple hears from enough of them, and decides it makes financial sense to make a round form factor, I'm sure they would then make a round watch.

I don't think the watch needs to be thinner. Again, my opinion. It's not much bigger than the old analogue watches I wore.

The current state of requiring a phone also works for me. I've carried a phone on my person since the 90's, and it's rare that I don't have it in my pocket, or on my desk. And when I don't have the phone, for example when I'm doing some plumbing or electrical or whatever in my basement, it's really nice that I can answer an incoming call on my watch. Sound quality is surprisingly (to me) good. The only thing I'd like to change, is to have a better/louder speaker in the watch.

Battery life is plenty good... I charge every night, with the watch having 60-70% battery still available. I also took off the old analogue watches when I went to bed every night. You don't want to get your better half's hair caught in your watch... it's a bit of a mood killer.

Speed.... that's the big one. Pulling up glances is too slow. The physical pull-up is fine, but the time it takes for the glances to load their data (from the phone) is too slow. Everyone wants everything to be instant, and as a programmer myself, I know that's not always possible. I spend a lot of development time working to get performance better - web/database/coldfusion/javascript etc. I've not yet tried any iPhone/:apple:Watch development. But, it is annoying to pull up a glance and have to wait 5-15 seconds for it to update. I'm looking at you MLB!

Using my watch as a phone makes me feel like Dick Tracey. A NFP group I am involved in has another member who has an :apple:Watch. We could actually talk to each other using our watches. Then we'd look like two Dicks. :D

LTE would give it GPS capabilities, plus the ability to grab data when it is out of range from the phone. I doubt Apple would intend it to be someone's primary voice device. If existing devices from LG and Samsung are any indication, it will be a $5/month add-on to mobile share plans.

i get that Bluetooth connection drops, hence why using the watch as a cellular connection would be good. but that means u'll have smaller antenna's.... i wonder how good strong it would be compared to larger antennas in an iPhone.

That said, you could very well dislike square designs, but that doesn't mean round smartwatches make sense. They don't.
That's a matter of opinion. Round or square, people will buy what they prefer. Round is no less useful to a person who wants that form factor. Just because something doesn't make sense to you doesn't mean it doesn't make sense period.
Besides, if I liked smartwatches, round would be my choice as well. It would either be the Gear S2 Classic or this:

There are plenty of people who want smartwatch capability in a more traditional watch form factor.

Why would I need an extra data plan? Can't I just get an extra SIM card? You guys don't do that in the US...?
