As the title says, all I get is the spinning dots.

I tried just about all the suggestions on various sites and nothing has helped.

What am I doing wrong?

Please help.

Thanks Much

What have you tried? Just stating you have tried all different solutions just brings me to say go to Apple. However, if you could provide more detail on what troubleshooting you have performed, then we can probably help you better diagnose it.

I have exactly the same problem. I get notifications but just the loading wheel. I have also done every step in the post you found. Did yo get a solution?

I had the same issue: Series 3 with LTE, iPhone on 11.3, Watch on 4.2.3 and I could not get
Messenger to load. I too found the same website above (and others) and I followed their advice: I
uninstalled/re-installed the app on iPhone and Apple Watch 3-4 times, powered off and force
restarted numerous times, I even updated the Default Replies in the iPhone Messenger Profile
settings, without any initial success.

However - I eventually got Messenger to work, but only for one day. It had to do with the Default
Replies. Not sure why. All I did was modify EVERY Default Reply, exit out of Messenger on the
iPhone, then went back into Messenger, then watch finally connected to Messenger and began to
load. I then reset all the Default Replies back to stock.

This was yesterday, 2/26/18. Now today, 2/27, I just tried to open Messenger on watch and it is
back to "spinning" mode as I am typing this.

I just now modified all the Default Replies...did the same things as above and now Messenger is back
to working on the Apple Watch. Seems very sketchy. I'm going to keep the Default Replies custom
and see if this keeps it working beyond one day.

I have never been able to make Messenger work not even for a day by changing the default replies or anything else for that matter.

I decided to change the default replies and try it again today and nope it still didn’t work.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones in that one of the nonsensical fixes (the Default Reply mod)
seems be successful. I have searched around quite a bit and there are many others who cannot
get it to work. Apple Support knows about it, and they refer you to Facebook.

You have done all you can do, we wait for Facebook.

Same issue. I've just kind of come to terms with it and hope it will be fixed in an update at some point. It works fine when I get a notification on a new message, but if I try to pull up the app from the watch it's non-responsive.

Finally got mine to work. Not that tricky.

1) Uninstall FB Messenger on your iPhone.
2) Download and reinstall Messenger
3) Reboot phone AND watch
4) Open Messenger on phone, keep open and open Messenger on watch.

Hope it works for you!

Messenger on Watch seems to now work after todays Messenger Update on App store, no other action required from me apart from force quitting the messenger app on the watch the last time i tried it

Mine still doesn’t work unfortunately.

I give up, my watch is jinxed, or my iPhone is jinxed, or I am.

No. All FB produced apps (FB, Messenger) and the website is a huge, unmaintained mess. You just see what happens when you focus on features ONLY (and wanting them ASAP at all costs) . :)

The app hasn't worked for me for months. I'd like to think FB will fix it, but the way things seem to be going with Apple Watch apps, I think it's more likely they'll simply withdraw it.

So does yours still work? My guess is no, as I did the same as you and it does not last long.
