When I got my first Apple Watch (original series 38mm), I remember thinking that even the 38mm looked huge. But over time I found myself wanting the bigger screen (not to mention longer battery life)... I think seeing all the other large smart watches (Fitbit Blaze, Samsung, etc) on smaller wrists I got used to that look and even preferred it.

After updating to iOS 4 my old watch battery could barely last 10 hours with minimal use. I went into the store thinking I was going to buy the new (series 3) 38, but ended up leaving with the 42. I was frustrated because there weren’t any 42s available to try on with the smaller band, so I was hoping it would work out. I had read people with small wrists say that it didn’t fit. But... it is almost exactly the same length as the 38mm small band! I wanted to post this picture of the 38 with small band versus the 42 with small band, in case it helps out any small wristed people who are considering the 42.

My wrist is 148 mm, and I actually have room to tighten the band on both this Nike band and on the regular silicone band.

Big watches are in now. Buy what you want and do not worry about what others think.

Enjoy your new watch!
^^^^ this.
Focus on what makes you happy.
You’re using it not thenon looker.
Having the ceramic edition I have all sorts of bands. Woven nylon berry and orange, in sport bands I have orange, purple, various blues and reds.

Some people see the berry band and say they would never wear that color.
I reply, you should try it I would look really nice with a nice blue shirt.

I like it, I look at it and if others don’t like it they still have to look at it.

Enjoy your watch no matter what others think. While they are pondeing their assessment of your choices, you’re enjoying your watch.

I find the 42 MM to be the perfect size. It really isn’t obtrusive or to small either. Aside from having a larger Apple Watch on your wrist, I just think the benefits are there with the larger battery and display.

That is definitely what I am finding!

And it is nice that the small band is pretty much exactly the same size as the small band for 38, which is what I had been worried about! The screen takes up a little more wrist real estate, but the band (at least the silicone ones) should still fit the same.

Oh yeah, definitely not worried about being judged! Just wanted to share the fit for those who are considering changing sizes like I did.

I’m another small-wristed person, and I’ve been wearing 42 from the beginning. I have a really hard time reading fine print, and I wanted the watch screen as big as possible. I think it looks great. It looks like an Apple Watch, whether you have 38 or 42. If people see it, they will think, “Apple watch,” not “what is she thinking being so out of style???”

:)

Anyway, I do like to dress it up sometimes, with girly band colors. Mostly just because that’s what I like. But, yeah, it makes me feel like it looks more feminine too. I have both silver and gold aluminum, because I am addicted to bands and like to mix it up a lot. But my favorite for looking cute is the gold with white, ultra violet, a knockoff Milanese band I got on Amazon, and a couple of nice leather bands I got on etsy with matching metal parts. Silver is my sportier look with Nike loops or with a few of the Apple woven and leather bands I got for good prices on eBay.

You got it. :) I will do an Apple Watch photo fashion show.
[doublepost=1520897050][/doublepost]OK, some of my favorites! Gold with charcoal double tour and purple cuff from an Etsy seller; gold with Milanese from Walcase on Amazon for 16 bucks; silver with Apple sunflower and berry leather bands.

Awesome!!! I love that yellow band especially! I clearly need to check out some more options for my setup...

I got it on eBay new in box for 75, and at the time Target was still selling it for 150. Same with berry and sapphire.

I’m done buying bands. I’M DONE.

When I was first on the fence about what size AW to buy, first thing came to mind was that the 38mm was the “female” size and 42mm was the “male” size. After days of watching YouTube videos and using the Apple store by to see the exact size, I finally went to the store and saw the 38mm in person and decided to go with that.

I am a male (obviously) and I have small wrist and I think love the way the 38mm fits on it.

I think the 42mm watch is easier to pull off in the darker bezels. I was at the Apple Store this weekend and lots of employees were wearing various Apple Watches. One of the employees was wearing a polished SS 42MM Apple Watch and I thought it looked almost comically large (I have a 38MM polished SS.) The one thing I’ve realized is that online pictures don’t give an accurate representation of what they look like in person.

I’m a 6ft male and I would never consider the 42 over the 38. I just find the 42 to tech looking and the 38 more discreet.
I also prefer the stainless steel band looks far better.
Only issue I have is that the sport loop doesn’t fit over my hand as nicely as it feels to short.
