Apple Watch bands + Suit and Tie

I get that it is an issue for many. It's amusing I guess. Just for me personally, and the culture here in Houston, it's out of the norm to care that much.

I'm likely getting the SS with black sport band personally. I was originally going to get one of the link options, but decided that I'm not a fan of the design of the link bracelet, but considering what others would think while wearing it with a suit just seems way over-the-top.

To each their own though!
 
Well, I'm a girl, so I don't have the same issue, but I do wear my Fitbit to work every day (business) and it is black rubber. It looks fine.

I think you'd be fine with the black sport band to start with, and then look at leather or metal options just to mix things up a bit.
 
With the exception of maybe the fluoroelastomer bands, I think any of the band choices could be worn with a suit. A lot of it depends on your own personal style.

There used to be hard rules about this as recently as the 1980s (e.g., men wear a gold wedding ring and a gold watch, and no other jewelry), but those have gone by the wayside pretty much. Wear what you like and what fits with your own personal sense of style.

I think the idea of his comment is that it seems somewhat ridiculous that the way your time is displayed is going to be judged by others, and that you're worried about it.

You're unable to enjoy your gadget until other people approve of you? Now *THAT* is true horror. Pretty sad, too. Live your own life, **** what anyone thinks about it. If the people around you are that shallow and pretentious thenthat sucks. Be a good person and be happy with yourself and others will value you for that, not your watch choice.😉

Actually I love watches and collect them. That is why I brought it up because I like certain ones for certain occasions. A personal choice more than anything. I enjoy the mechanics of a nice watch and am looking forward to this watch as well. hope you enjoy yours as well! have a good day!

Oh I see. I definitely didn't mean it like that but since I love watches, collect them, and at times work on them, I just enjoy the look of certain ones with certain suits and stuff like that

I think the black rubber will look okay, the classic leather buckle is okay too but both give you the problem of not matching with brown shoes / belt. I guess it depends on how style concious you are in that regard.

I think I'm probably going to end up with the link bracelet although it's not quite as "dressy" as the leather.

Milanese is probably a decent option too but I don't like how it's asymmetrical. It doesn't look great in hands-on videos.

I feel very similar. If you are wearing leather it needs to match your belt/shoes, but you you are using the rubber band you can get away with black all of the time.
 
I'll get the black sport band for everyday and black dress clothes and a brown leather for tan/brown dress clothes.
 
I think the smartwatch is going to be a bit out on a limb no matter what version you get. I also wear a suit and am in a fairly formal environment (cuff links are common amongst male employees). For that reason I'm leaning to SS. But the tech/nerd aspect of the watch may be so great that it doesn't really matter how much I dress it up. It won't be a swiss mechanical automatic and there won't be any denying it.

So in some respects, I might as well just go Sport version and claim I'm doing it for health and jogging and such. That sort of behavior is understood and respected.
 
Excel at your job and nobody'll care what you wear. Seriously.

(PS: Safe bet - steel with steel)
 
I love the black leather loop, but is it just me or does it almost look like a rubber G Shock band of your not close up?

I think the Fitbit is not only excellent for its intended use, but very sleek. Styled so as to be subtle and not attract attention, they've done an exemplary job with them. Within my organization they're very prolific and well accepted.

But then again they're not hyped like Apple products. If not for the self praise Apple heaps on themselves along with the wild outlandish claims made during their keynote and other presentations here on the West Coast, Apple would not have the reputation of a highly polarizing company.

They often draw attention to themselves in ways that are counterproductive, somewhat like adolescence boys. As such its no wonder they are chided by mature adults.

One thing's for certain, upon the release of Apple's Watch thing's will get even more interesting 🙂
 
I'm hoping for a red leather band soon. I think that would pair well with all the watch cases.

Billionaire, Ray Dalio knows what I'm talking about 😉.

I do kind of wish they had a Brown Classic to go with the Black Classic. But for business I will probably have a Black Classic on hand.
 
Going with the Link Bracelet or Milanese Loop solves the problem of leather matching the outfit. On the flip side, the Milanese Loop might be a bit too fancy to be worn with really casual clothes so the link bracelet is a more versatile choice.
 
I recently had a chance to try on all the Apple watch straps
I own a SS 38mm watch and wear a suit most days. I was looking for a strap that would look professional.
This is the order I would rate the bands in terms of how professional they look to me

1. Link Bracelet - great bracelet but way too expensive
2. Milanese Loop - very comfortable and looks very nice
3. Modern Buckle - nice leather and style
4.Classic Buckle - just looks like any other normal leather strap
5. Leather Loop - this is different and looks nice but I don't like the part where it bulges on the wrist when you're wearing it
6. Sport Band - very comfortable but does it look professional, that's a matter of opinion

I chose the Milanese Loop for looks and comfort and it goes very well with my suit

Same situation here with suits, yes, there are those that wear a timex but some forms of business still want a more formal look. So mine are:

I have the link and it goes with everything I wear. I have no plans to buy any other bands because of how satisfied I am with the link. 🙂
 
The strict rules of Protocol/Etiquette have changed a lot over the past decades. So, you don't necesseraly have to have tone-in-tone your shoes and the belt (black belt with black trousers). What concerns the watch: you can wear any watch you like. The only question/dilemma is will it reflect your position in the society or environment you live/work in.
 
I wear a suit every day with a white Sport band. It looks fine, perhaps a bit casual, but people wear bright orange G-Shocks and luminous Swatch watches so it looks fantastic in comparison!

I'd go with the link bracelet if money was no object, though alas it is.
