The best part about the article you added in your edit is the last paragraph that reads:

"What is it about the Apple Watch - as opposed to other earlier-to-market devices - that gives the casinos the belief that the device can compromise game security?"
less than 700k android smart watches were sold over 2yrs... i think it's the popularity. Not to mention the AW is much easier to pick out. They obviously have a reason for it, be it they've noticed people playing with there AW's too much while at tables or caught someone cheating... who knows

While playing at Harrah's in Cherokee, NC, I was seated at a blackjack table playing with my LG Tone 730 Bluetooth headset around my neck. The dealer told me no Bluetooth devices were allowed on the tables (the blue light alerted him). As I tuned it off, the dealer sucked out a 21 to my two face cards

They only started to come out last summer.

720K over the last six months of 2014, with the most popular not available until the final months of that short period. So it's likely at least a million and a half or more by now, one year later.

Sounds right. More people will have heard of the Apple Watch, and its screen/shape looks like an electronic device on a wrist.

Ever seen the movie Casino?

Not a great example. The system portrayed in that movie was with hidden RF. nothing visible by either player.

And the outcome of their scam was.....?

As a matter of fact, it would be EASIER to use their contraption than try to use Apple Watch to cheat.

Hell, it'd be easier to use the overboard signals used in "21", or whatever the hell that movie was with Kevin Spacey and the MIT BJ team.

And this could still be done with the watch strapped to your leg.
Well, it has been done. Maybe not (yet) with an AW per se, but cheaters have been very creative. One guy built a small computer in his shoe that he would operate with his toes for card counting at BJ tables. Problem is when they get greedy and start to stand out as a statistical anomaly. Either at that table or over time at multiple casinos. The casinos do share information to ferret these guys out. That's when the scrutiny really begins.

@RayBrady. It's for card counting. If you can keep track of what has already been shown, you have better chances of predicting what's next. With one or two deck, some people can do this in their head. With 5 or 7 deck deals, they need some help. And if the dealer sees you conspiring with others at the table to take inventory on cards, you will all be asked to leave (at the discretion of the house, as you elude to, there is a line between social chatter and organized efforts to cheat the house)
