18 Hours is about right for "full-feature" smart-watches right now:

Just for comparison:
Moto 360: 12 Hours "typical Usage"

LG Watch R: 20 Hours "typical Usage"

Samsung Gear S: 16 Hours "typical Usage"

The one standout is the Pebble: it lasts up to 7 days!
However it has a LOW RES digital Ink display, which saves a TON of power.

Plus it's the lowest powered of the bunch; by a LONG SHOT!
It only has 128KB of ram thats KILOBYTES! thats LESS than a PC XT! Thats less than a TI89 Calculator.
People complain that 1GB is too small for good apps on a Iphone, on the pebble, apps have access to only 24KB! (Again KILOBYTES) That's less than 1/20th DOS Low Memory! (640KB)

It has only a 120 MHZ arm main processor, that's Megahertz, just twice the hertz of a 486DX!

It has a WHOPPING 8MB (yes MEGABYTE) of total storage, and as far as I can tell only 800KB is available for user storage, which is LESS than a 3.5" FLOPPY DISK!

Now, I DO Think the pebble is good for what it is, it has a specific design that enables it to last a week, but comparing it to any of the other smart-watches available is like comparing a Vespa to a Civic, yes they bot provide transportation, just in completely different classes.

Where are you getting times from? All the Android Wear watches are rated for a day of typical usage.

I got them from:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...touchscreen-LG-s-Gwatch-R-SMART-decision.html

which seems to parrot the official specs listed by the manufactures.

It seems as though 12-20 hours of "Mixed Use" is considered a Full Day, so the Apple watch is near the top of the pack (6 hours ahead of the Moto, and only 2 Hours behind the Watch R).

----------

The Pebble isn't comparable to an Apple Watch

I was attempting to reply to those who have posted statements such as: "I want 3 days of battery..." etc...

The ONLY smart-watch that gets that sort of battery life is the pebble, I wanted to demonstrate HOW the pebble gets that amount of life.
(by being several orders of magnitude less powerful)

Ah, okay. It is a shame they don't test these things using similar parameters. The Android Watches off the ability to have the screen on all the time, which is usually not mentioned in the reviews (in the case of the 360 I think it was) nor do many tech sites go back and update the review based on newer firmware (the 360 should easily last a full 24 hours with the screen set to turn off on the latest firmware).

Besides reading your notifications on a super small screen, there is zero point

I have had the Pebble (smart watch) for two years, I see all my email headers as they come in without pulling my iPhone out. I control my music on the train without looking at the iphone. I notice my Pebble vibrating when I don't notice the phone in my pocket. I notice my Pebble vibrate 3 times after I walk away leaving my iphone on the Starbuck's counter. I have the 3 week calender clock screen, always glancing at it to see the dates from last week, this week or next week. I glance at it to see what the family is posting now on Facebook or to see a text message, do I need to respond now?

Pebble has LCD that is on all the time, jerk wrist to turn light on. It's battery last 3 to 5 days. Water proof, but I always take off to shower, now I will take off Apple off to sleep, then on after shower.

If you don't like gadgets and don't like this level of being connected, don't get one. I do and can't wait! ...well I can wait, habit from being young once. Now I can wait. :)

Maybe it's because I keep mine in a dock I've never had it fall out. It is quite a weak grip, definitely no Mag port!

You must have the original Pebble, the Pebble Steal clicks in and stays put. I put a battery in my pocket and run the charging cord to it on my wrist. Works great.

...Why would I replace one of these for my Navy Seals Watch, which I can wear in the woods and on vacation, where I might not have electricity to plug it in?

Why would you replace a dumb watch for a smart watch? The same reason you once replaced a dumb phone for a smart phone. They are apples an oranges. I have a fantastic Tissot T-touch II, titanium and sapphire watch, I still love it, but it sits on my desk. I have the Pebble watch on my wrist. I wish I could wear both and not look silly. :)

You buying a Tissot that collects dust is not the watch being bad, but you having no interest in it

Apple watch in its current form is a joke, terrible battery, no killer app, pointless

I've had bad watches, they pee on the floor and chew up my shoes. Like I said, I love the Tissot, I just love notifications more. If the Apple watch gives me notifications, it will not be pointless to me. Other's pointedness about the Apple watch, is pointless to my decision to get one. Make sense?

I loved the first iPhone and the first iPad, I'm guessing this will carry over to the first Apple Watch.

I have an iPhone 5S and I have no intention of upgrading to the larger iPhone 6. So the watch will allow me to keep my smaller iPhone and have the Apple Pay functionality. The Wi-Fi connectivity to the iPhone will allow me to easily access various smartphone functions without having to remember to carry my phone from room to room (e.g. kitchen, living room & bedroom). The ability to receive notifications without having to drag out my phone every time would be really convenient. The health apps might provide incentive for me to get more fit. So you see, there are people who find utility in the device. But I get it..you're a whiner. I only wish I could send you some cheese to go with your whine.
