I would recommend everyone take a deep breath and appreciate what we were shown yesterday as it was pretty awesome, never before seen tech. But then what would we do with our lives if we couldn't bitch about something we don't actually know about.

Please do educate me in what was introduced yesterday that is this magical never seen before tech. Please go on. Please.

That's why something like that exists. *shrug*

P.S. I get what you're saying, but it seems purely rhetorical... I don't know what discussion can be had around it other than, ".... okay."

Well, we could discuss why the LG G Watch R is more aesthetically appealing (to some), its design elements, how they contrast with the :apple:Watch, etc. A lot of people are disappointed with Apple's design decision here...

That said, everything we've discussed in every Apple thread is purely rhetorical as well. Apple is going to do whatever the hell they want to do.

But as you said: "...okay".

The problem is the "sleep monitor" set all assume that it will take all night to charge. It's not water proof so you won't be showering with it; for all any of us know you will be able to charge it in the morning while you are getting ready for your day.

The reality is if Apple gets a real day (18-24hrs) out of a single charge with all of the functions it showed on Tuesday it will be a frickin' miracle. So, until it's actually released, why not assume Apple is going to make it work and don't lose sleep over it (see what I did there).

If I'm supposed to shower every 18 hours it will mess up my work/sleep habits.

Buying this version of the Apple Watch will be a bit like buying the first generation iPad: There's some cool technology there, and a lot of potential - but you know that in a year or so there'll be a second generation that's thinner, has better battery life, and has built-in cellular data and GPS.

It's also like the first iPhone. I always tell friends and family NOT to buy a first-generation product, even from Apple, because usually they have some problem or are simply not good enough at that point.

I had to come here and see the reactions since many of you spazzed on the Moto360 about it being an "all day device". Apple pushing this turd out not even this year and can't pull anything better. Woohoo way to go for your expectations, huh?

But don't fret, you can draw little symbols like fish to indicate you want sushi!

Wow, you really are hurt, aren't you? I am sorry you cannot draw a fish on your watch. You're right, it probably doesn't matter, given all of the other things you can do with the amazing apps currently available for the Moto360.

Curious why you thought the Apple Watch was a "turd", though? Something more than the battery life being equal to everyone else's? Or are you just a person who likes using juvenile language, 'cause turd makes me laugh, too. Turd, said it again. Ha! Turd!

Why do you say it's not a smartwatch ? It does have multiple functions, it has 3g connectivity, gps, it's a smartwatch. What's the battery life ?
But it is somewhat ugly, but still interesting.

FTR, Timex is launching the Ironman One GPS+ watch this fall - and while it's not exactly a smartwatch it does have GPS and 3G messaging without needing to carry a phone (or an external battery pack).

Oh no I am not hurt at all actually, I just find it hilarious how zealous you guys are about your beloved Apple after yesterdays release. I don't care one bit about what anyone uses, but as a tech guy I just find it funny how Apple invents all sorts of "magical tech" that have been in use in other devices for awhile.

Curious as to why I thought it was a turd (it's OK, I can use my big boy words from time to time too)? Let me count the ways :

1)A tiny little "digital crown" is one of the main input/control methods. Have fun twisting and twisting on that tiny little knob to zoom in and out.

2)They put so much emphasis on it being a sports companion, even going as far as a commercial showing a runner with just the watch on, yet, it requires the iPhone to function and record that data. So now that runner gets a watch + phone where before that runner could just have a phone. (not saying this is different to the 360 or any other watch, but these other devices weren't sold that way either).

3)Adjusting emjoi/drawing fish. Revolutionary!!!

Oh and one little nitpick ... the name of the high end "edition" is .. literally ... "EDITION". Apple used to have an edge (I've owned every iPhone except the 5C), but now it's just a joke.

I'll add one more note. Samsung used to take the crown for gimmicky software "features" but Apple surpassed them with the "share your heartbeat" nonsense.

I've expected this and i'm fine with it. I would love sleep tracking anyway and charting during lunch.

Sometimes the most simple thing is the most brilliant, which Apple gets, but apparently not everyone else. So, in answer to your question (which isn't one, I know), let's say the interface, how you interact with it, the apps it ships with and the potential of apps to come, the simplicity of communicating with others (sometimes a fish is more than a fish).

Sure, be stubborn and say we have seen it all before. But you can argue that using the word "turd" is not creative, that everyone can use the word. But it's how Shakespeare uses it that comes to mind when I look at the other attempts at Smart Watches. Shakespeare could take the words that we use everyday and create something brilliant. Apple does the same, consistently.

Maybe you don't see it this way, which is okay, because I don't really care. Hey, did you check out the thread the day after the original iPhone was released?

A little to thick for me but I think its going to look great next gen. I will be getting one this gen if they open them to devs.

I am so excited for this. I really am. I have been wanting a smart watch forever but thought they all looked terrible. I didn't want a toy I wanted a nice, sleek, professional looking watch. And it's finally here thanks to Apple!

This is really the amazing new tech you were speaking of? Good lord.

I have a question for you ..

If someone cut you, do you bleed Apple?

Edit : Please note, the apps that people will design for it are not Apple tech. Make sure to strike that off the list. Regardless, enjoy your revolutionary watch and phone!

I don't care if a watch has wireless charging, I don't even want to think about charging it every month.

I will use it a lot for notification and sport/running. I use a pebble right now with Runkeeper and i enjoy seeing how far i'm going on my watch, changing music from it while the iPhone and headphones are in my pocket. You are too much negative, as always on MacRumors is easy to read comments like that. I'm sure many users will love AppleWatch and will actually use it for improving works/hobbys.

2) you don't need the phone for the fitness stuff, just to record your route via gps, but that's not necessary.

Yeah, I should have added the proviso: No GPS Smart Watches with decent battery life until battery tech improves.

Sure, it's possible put GPS in a watch and market it. But not with anything close to what most would consider a reasonable battery life. I've spent a long time looking for GPS device for my dog, and the ONLY way to extend battery life is to restrict location measurments to long intervals (30 minutes or even a couple hours). If you want real time GPS tracking, even a builky dog collar requires charging every day or two.

I'm not sure you could even get a whole day of GPS tracking on an iPhone, but that's fine because it's usually used in a car plugged in. Hikers use battery packs and only take readings when absolutely essential. That's not a function that begs to be put in a watch form factor.
