Would be nice to see more American and European companies to produce domestic and getting less dependent on foreign countries. I hope we will slowly see a change and I only applaud any move to make this happen. Nice start Apple!
And we can all enjoy the higher prices …
In order for the USA to sell our products overseas other countries need to sell stuff to us

I used to live about 2 miles from the Arizona plant. They started building in 2019. It’s 2025. So, when I hear people scream “let’s build it here!”, they don’t care that it takes 6 years from shovel in the ground to the first product being pumped out.

I can't believe it takes that long to build 1 plant. Apple Park was introduced in 2006 and opened in 2017 while construction was still going on. Thats some serious patience .

I'm just glad I bought 1 share of TSMC when it IPO'd. Still in profit on that puppy!

Good to see chip production expanding in the US. Won't be long before the newer S10 SiP along with other newer chips are manufactured.

They could use Taiwan for S10/S11. But why ramp up production for a chip (S9) with a super limited lifespan?

Perhaps the S9 could be used in other products, but otherwise what's the point?
TSMC could also be using the node for other chips, with the S9 being more of a trial run I would imagine.

The one with the cheapest build of Robots wins the manufacturing process.
The automated farmer looses to Ai.
Farmers i never heard complain of lack of hired hands while Ai takes over their equipment.
Working on Farmers equipment yes. Right to repair is a big issue.
Every factory made the more people loose work to the cheapest labor force.
Elon Musk has it right in the future someone is going to have to pay humans not to work or bad consequences
will happen.
Can't compete with cheap labor and China always wins hands down.
Soon to be who ever Assembles the Apple products wins. All countries from all places for apple parts and pieces.
So yea for USA made one piece and who assembles it is the winner of most bread=$$$$.

If the report is that the S9 will be produced in Arizona, it might not be for the Watch. They use an S5 in the current HomePod mini. This batch of S9s could be for the next gen HomePod mini. Going forward from that, the HomePod mini is likely a lot less demanding to assemble, as it doesn't have to be an inch square, quarter-inch thick, and waterproof. It's possible they might set up an automated production line for the next gen model HomePod mini in the US and produce it all here.
