Yup. And believe it or not, this can change the social scene where people will not be staring at their phones the whole trip of on a bus, just glancing on their watches and being more social.

People stare at their phones on buses so that they don't have to interact with other people. Watch isn't going to change that!

I am not important enough to have the needs for people to reach me any easier than when I decided to check my phone and notification at my own leisure - therefore I do not want or need an Apple Watch.

So wait, if you're left-handed you have to wear the watch upside down?!?!

Apple has obviously determined that the user experience/look of the watch is best with the crown on top and the secondary button below, but screw left-handers.

That kind of looks better than the iOS Settings app...

Yes. Settings.app is a disastrous mess these days. It actively works against you finding the settings that you need.

A prime example of how not to do UI, especially the front page with that ridiculous sprawling list of apps.

Hopefully in iOS 9 they will finally clean it up, and make it simpler and better organised.

I don't want an Apple watch, I don't want an Apple watch, I don't want an Apple watch, I don't want an Apple watch...

When do preorders start?
I am going to wait and see, Maybe the second generation, No way if the steel with nice strap is more than $500,... oh well, it is not so expensive even if I use it for a year. Think about wifes shoes or the benefit I will have by going for a walk every day, let us get it and think about it later.

I understand your point but no one makes it special for left-handers. I had the same thought as most likely I will get an Apple Watch and will have a lot more interaction compared to my current watch.

I don't understand this. I am a sensible, grandma type of a person. Why do I do this.

I was in line for the first iPhone, in line for the first iPad, i even baked cookies for people standing with me. I am now trying to talk myself out of buying the iWatch. This thread is tempting me. I can't wait for the second generation. I had too much fun with all the other first gadgets.

Run watch in Simulator

Wonder if you run the apple watch simulator and try to pair it with the phone if it activates the options we see here? I'll try it when I get home.:)

Another Poorly Executed iOS Upgrade

Upgraded my iPhone and iPad to 8.2 and now when I open iTunes on my iMac, those two device no longer show in iTunes. They did yesterday before I upgraded. Apple needs to get a handle on its software upgrades.

I just don't get it, man... the thing is two inches from your phone when your hands are at your sides. To each their own...

I think the biggest thing is that, for example, when you are driving, you don't have to use your phone (and jeopardize your life) to check texts, social media, and GPS directions. You can now just glance at your wrist when it's on the steering wheel.

Forget about the Watch, iOS REALLY needs a dark mode.

I agree - at first glance I thought these were screenshots from Android. Androids UI is definitely superior in my experience.

Your wrist is not typically at an angle where the watch would be visible when you're driving... you would still need turn your wrist towards your eyes.

Hopefully the watch is awesome and changes my opinion when it comes out - it won't have to do much to surpass my expectations at a minimum.

Looking at the screen shots really makes me wish Apple would implement a legitimate Dark Mode for iOS. I prefer dark backgrounds myself and looking at the white background all the time really gets annoying and strains my eyes. One thing I like about Android is a lot of the aps have an option for "Dark Mode", even the operating system itself. Come on, Apple. It wouldn't be all that hard to do.

But your iPhone has. The app would remember the last GPS position from the iPhone while the Apple Watch was connected, in other words where you "lost" it. Just the same way like Find my iPhone can remember the iPhone's last position before the battery dies.

Good point. But If it's moved. this is useless.

The one feature that I have been wondering about is whether you'll be able to sync your saved offline music from the beats app instead of just the music app.

The only music I now listen to is through streaming and I'm sure there are many in the same position.

I'm hoping for a Spotify Watch app.

That's true but at least you get some sort of a starting point for searching.

If the Apple Watch mirrors the iPhone's Airplane Mode setting, then how does it know it can reconnect when the iPhone Airplane Mode is turned back off.

It probably just keeps listening passively for a signal from the iPhone, rather than powering down the Bluetooth completely. As long as it doesn't actually transmit anything it's fine.

The app popped up on my phone and I have never seen an apple watch in person ever

This doesn't apply on the iPhone because it doesn't have an AMOLED display. On the iPhone a backlight is always on while the phone is in use, even when the entire screen is black. On the Watch there is no backlight, as each pixel is lit independently. Therefore, while a black background is displayed on the Watch most of the pixels are turned off, saving energy.

This whole time I thought it was an LCD display. Searched round the Internet and found out it is AMOLED. Saves power and true blacks, I can't wait.

I've personally gave up on iTunes years ago. I want to know if Spotify will release an Apple Watch app. Since you can store playlists locally on Spotify, I see no reason why that couldn't implement a "save and sync playlist" feature as well.

In the short term, at least, I believe most Watch apps will actually be iPhone apps with an Watch component. So it will be up to Spotify to either create a new app or to enhance their existing iOS app to include Watch functionality.

I think it will be worse. People will be talking to their wrists.

I don't use the :apple:Maps, podcasts or music on my iPhone. The :apple:watch isn't as useful to me till I can use Google maps, Google Music and Pocket Casts.

Looking at Android wear, I can use Google Maps, Music and Pocket casts right away.
