I‘ve just registered a MacRumors account to come and complain about the same thing!

Tried to order the overseas version from Amazon US, but ordered was flagged as suspect and cancelled. Maybe because I was using a VPN. I might give BestBuy a try.
STILL crying in Australian.

Now just bring it to Japan
There is a quite a chance imo that it will be enabled in Japan and some other countries too.

Two reasons:
1. It was also approved by jp government earlier this year even before South Korean
2. Its not in the news and search not finding anything (in english), but officially 7.1 enables it for Russia too: https://www.apple.com/ru/newsroom/2...art-rhythm-notification-coming-to-applewatch/

So if you search changelogs for russia you cant find any mentions except this news, may be Japan and other countries (government allowed) will enable ECG too.

I'm yet to do it on mine, but I know people on whirlpool have purchased apple watches here in Australia and had it hacked on. There's people offering to do the service for you on gumtree etc.

There’s a mob from SA on Gumtree advertising that they’ll perform the hack for $149 ! 💸

I’ve booked a slot at the Apple store to try on the new loop band and buy a watch.

I‘ll not have an iPhone to pair with it until the 12 Pro Max is released and delivered. I’ll try and get the ECG hack working then.

Yep, just tried today on Australian-bought Apple Watch S4 on 7.0.2 and iPhone 12 on iOS 14.1. Worked flawlessly. Just did my first ECG. Very happy. I had to pay $60AUD for the software, but otherwise, it’s not hard.

I don't think this is necessarily Apple's fault, though. Many countries have/had regulations on medical devices that did not take these sort of devices into account when they were enacted and these take time to change.
I tend to agree, but at the same time, when they annouce a key feature like this, it might be more transparent to advise that basically it won't be enabled due to regulations, possibly for years. The next watch has come and gone and still numerous parts of the world cannot use the feature

Again, got exited and then disappointed by the time I finished reading the title.

justifiable complaints though. One of the first countries to get the watch and idiot government ... why risk saving people?
Current regulations are from 2002 unfortunately; the new regs are basically harmonized with the EU as I understand it. There’s no reason for TGA to reinvent the wheel, after all.

The more countries the better.
I'm curious why does it take that long to get permissions from the authorities, to have it enabled. Is it something that Apple has to push or they just have to wait because the authorities move really slow...

I’m glad it hasn’t come to Australia yet. It gives me more time to buy Big Phama shares in all those companies making drugs to treat AF. So many people with asymptomatic fibrillation will be making their diagnosis, those drug companies will make billions! 😝

Great, now I'll finally be able to set my Memoji as watch face- wasn't possible due to beta WatchOS 7.1.

As an Australian, i feel sad reading this kind of news.... we’ve been waiting for like forever, here, down under. Apple and TGA, ACCC (or whatever department needs to approve it) should really work this out.
Its Apple! The TGA have already mentioned several times, that Apple have NOT requested approval.

Apple stupidly marketed this as a health feature, when they should have marketed it the same way as the Blood Oxygen check. Apple have learned the hard way & it's 100% responsible for this mistake!

What method of the hack did you use?
Is your hack the version that requires you to fudge the heathkit config each time? Or the method that follows any future device as it's linked to your iCloud?

And regarding the software you used, was it iMazing?

If you don't want to wait in Australia, the Wefixit Brisbane solution works well - just installed it and have ECG functionality in my Aussie purchased Apple watch - brilliant!

It’s not Apple, it’s the TGA regulations, read earlier posts in this thread.
