Update:The ECG app for Apple Watch Series 4 and later will also be available in Russia with the release of iOS 14.2 and watchOS 7.1, reports Meduza.
Read your comments, it was reported by apple itself and we wrote about it here way earlier than medusa

Yep, just tried today on Australian-bought Apple Watch S4 on 7.0.2 and iPhone 12 on iOS 14.1. Worked flawlessly. Just did my first ECG. Very happy. I had to pay $60AUD for the software, but otherwise, it’s not hard.

Glad to hear it worked!

Which software did you use? I was looking at Reincubate iPhone Backup Extractor, but it’s more expensive, at $60USD or about $85AUD.

Im sure, Australia will get the ECG in 2022 with the new apple watch 8 or later. ✌🏻✌🏻😆😆 poor aussies like me.

Worst scenario, we might not get it at all.

Is it not possible that the Withings smart watches are using a different method of obtaining an EKG that fits within the regulations?
I wondered that as well. The article seems to paint an incompetence picture, yet fails to address why the TGA needed to have significant legislation and regulatory changes if all Withings did was to apply… The article also claims Withings is getting approved for sleep apnea detection which certainly puts it in the diagnostic category. There is an aspect of this that is missing from the discussion so blaming Apple or TGA does seem a little simplistic… very very curious. Maybe somebody needs to get their MP to ask during Question time?

6 hours watch 6 experience: just realised ECG is disabled in Australia. disappointed. why the hell I paid more and got less than people in some other countries does? And SO2 readings is not consistent compared to my oximeter. Let me try sleep tacking. If it's crappy too I'll return it and get a ScanWatch, will still have some money left for their sleep tracking mat. anxious tonight.

Using the iMazing hack from previous watchOS versions, the watchOS 7.2 update has closed that loophole. Can no longer take an ECG :(
if anyone has a way to get it to work again, please share! Maybe iMazing can be used again?
