I have the S3 aluminum and will likely upgrade to an S8 steel when it comes out. I like the steel better but if I don't love it then maybe ill go back to aluminum for the next upgrade down the road. I just wish the price jump wasn't so high.

I may have tried Titanium if they came in non-cellular. Cellular would be another $100 plus the price of a plan

You possibly already know, but you can buy the Ti and then not activate the cellular. That way you still get the benefits of emergency 911 but don't have the extra burden of the $5/$10/month cellular rate.

From that perspective, $130 (or whatever the difference is between the SS Cell and SS non-cell is in your country) is perhaps not huge if viewed over a 12/24/36 month term.

As you note, all the non-Aluminum watches come with cellular, so not just a Ti thing.

For me, the cellular cost difference is moot since I'd have cellular regardless of the case material.

As for the plan cost - I pay $5 per month on T-Mobile in the US (including any taxes/fees). Very much worth the convenience since I retain connectivity when out for a run or a bicycle ride or going for a walk or even just outside doing yardwork.

If you could get it with a discount, it would be the best choice as the “new” one most likely will be basically the same as the 7, except higher price.

Discount, sure y note if it suits your choice.

But purchasing on a whim that it's going to increase in value/demand based on a rumor ... even for Apple die-hard-in-the-wool-fans this has GOT to be THE WORST decision ever, if not the most regretable decision in a few months.

Well, update... the Apple Watch Edition (Series 7) Space Black Titanium Case (any band combo) appears to be sold out in the US. Not available for shipping or pick up in the stores. I was hoping maybe they'd price them down a notch, but was actually waiting on some rewards points to come in (really close to $500 saved up now). I wanted the Ti watch but not sure I'll like the Watch 8 Pro or whatever it's gonna be called.

Guess now I'll have to wait and see.

I don't understand why people would invest in the casing or bands on these watches. The value of the watch is in the technology which is obsolete one to two years later.
1-I have extreme OCD and any scratch on my display is all I see when I look at it. The sapphire display of the Stainless Steel version is flawless and unscratchable. 2-the resale is simply better. I can usually sell my SS models 2 years later for $450-$500. This obviously makes the "per year cost" a little easier to stomach.
