Google has disappeared from the smartwatch market. The Apple Watch is one of the few things keeping me in the iOS realm. If I didn’t get the experience it provided, I probably would be on a Pixel 3 or OP6T right now.

HomePod fully depends on Siri for basic operation. If your local language isn't supported, or Apple hasn't properly optimized it for HomePod, there's no point in them selling it there.

Well unless the iPhone Siri is different from HomePod Siri then you might have a point eh

You mean to tell me that my needs and interests don't represent those of the larger marker? Get out of here with your lies! ;)
It may, it may not.

Apple's not a very hard company to read, and it's pretty clear where their priorities lie these days. They are focused on the iPhone, its accompanying accessories (especially wearables) and services, while the Mac has clearly taken a back seat as resources get redeployed to the aforementioned areas.

I bought a 44mm Series 4 two weeks ago, and I like it. I put a bumper on it, and got two different link bands. I'm already posting suggestions to the feedback site (I don't like the blunt-ended "hot dog" hands on the analog faces), and I really wish they offered the stainless steel case without having to buy the cellular version. I've done the ECG (it's really EKG, ECG is an echocardiogram, or sonogram - I know because I've had one, years ago) three times, and one of those times was to show off.

You do realize it’s YOUR coontry’s Fault and not Apples right?

Care to elaborate ?
If Apple a trillion dollar company can work with the FDA to get it approved then surely it can work with other governments in tandem ?

Unless is just a new startup concentrating on certain countries ONE at a time ?

But for the IPhone Apple bent over backwards in Indonesia and India to get their iPhones to be sold there .remeber the 30% rule

It is just a matter of importance, Apple is saying to us , we are second class paying a first class product ..

In my own (admittedly unscientific) survey, I see fewer watches being worn than a year ago. None of my relatives working professional jobs owns one, but most have iPhones.

Are you in the northern hemisphere? Lots of watches are under sleeves. For my unscientific observations, I see a lot of women around here wearing them (rose gold mostly). Also see a fair share of them in the gym which is a great use case (Strong app, AirPods, leave the phone in the car).

I also have a Garmin 935 that I love and feel I see a lot of those lately so I got it in my head that Garmin is making progress in the consumer space. Confirmation bias I guess.

ECG is one of the features ? How about a VERY BIG FEATURE that no other smart watch has ?

It is an amazing feature that can at the very least send a loved one for a heart checkup !

And you assume that the local goverment did not give approval ? Do you have proof ?
If the bottl neck is is the lol goverment yes , then Apple should take the initiate and inform us, so we can petition our own local goverment .

Unless other nations citizens lives are unimportant ? Not even a release date ? Not even a memo?

Also other countries without the full set of features ARE PAYING THE FULL PRICE for the Apple Watch.

Also can you pls tell me why the HomePod is not sold to every country ? Because of local goverment restriction ?

Apple fragmentation is giving the entire world Apple users a wake up call .
China has an dual sim iPhone while the rest of the world have an unused esim .

I personally feel that certain nation are more favored and feel like a second class consumer.
Apple was never like this.

Apple ALWAYS has staged rollouts world wide on EVERY MAJOR product.. what do you mean Apple was never like this?! They never release their phones for example on the same day world wide. Why? Presumably supply constraints and the huge effort it takes to release tech into different countries.

Don't disparage Apple because the world is fragmented into different countries and different regulations. That is not a condition Apple created. And don't disparage Apple for being a business and going to where the markets are first. They no doubt do a profit calculation that leads to their decisions.

Don't do this loved one heartstring pull...that has nothing to do with this. Do you really think Apple would not enable the feature it if they legally could? and if not legally, then who is blocking it? Do you have any knowledge of the regulatory requirements of a medical device in your country? I can tell you they vary widely, almost always set a high bar with required clinical studies so as to not always be affordable. You have to balance profit with cost to market.

I own the AW4, I suppose I can check my EKG, and never have. I go to a doctor and get that done with multi-lead analysis. Any doctor will tell you one lead EKG's just aren't that reliable. Please, by all means, take your loved ones to the doctor if you suspect anything, or even if you don't! Better to check right?

I work for a medical device company. I assure you it just not as simple as you think. And it's VERY dependent on the local regulations. Some countries are just not worth the effort because of restrictive practices. This was Apple's first foray into needing these kind of approvals. I imagine in the years to come they will get the expertise to add more countries, as they seem to be positioning themselves as a health company... but to keep suggesting this is a trivial effort and that your country is being excluded because they are second class.... is just non informed mud slinging.

I own an apple watch series 2, to me its a mild fail (for me, I understand those who love it and those who don't), at first I thought it was great but I have fallen out of love with it, granted I am not a watch wearer prior to the apple watch, if I was the story might be different. I just found it got a bit annoying and while I liked the modular face it wasn't giving me everything that I wanted on a face. Perhaps the newer models would fit my need better but I am not inclined to upgrade. For the price, if you want to wear a watch I totally get it. But they REALLY need to do something with faces in order to get it to be a bit more customizable.

Great product for US citizen and those handful of countries that support ECG .

FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD ,we will be paying full price for a technology that will never see the light of day .

Apple is treating the world as second class.....

Fragmentation...

I would not let the lack of ECG get in the way of purchasing and Apple Watch. The heart rate variability, low and high heart rate monitoring are very good features. The ECG a manual 30 second snap shot, the others are throughout the watch wearing day.

The workout routines are excellent monitors also. Some input from a Series 0 to now user of the Apple Watch.

They don't owe you an ECG, I assume you don't actually own a series 4? In which case you are not missing anything.

Anecdotally, I see a lot of people wearing Apple Watches here in NYC.

I don’t own one but wanted to get one strictly for the gym. My friend who works at Apple dissuaded me and says it’s a complete waste if I was going to only wear it to the gym

As a watch enthusiast, i knew this would be popular amongst people who were not previously wearing a watch or leaned heavily on tech.

I still value and find my mechanical watches cooler and more practical. I haven’t had to charge my Omega Planet Ocean since I bought it in 2011, and the movement/history is pretty interesting

I've had an Apple Watch since Series 0 and I'm now on Series 3. I think Apple has finally dialed in the core functions of the AW, e.g., health and fitness, with the Series 4. Marketing the AW as a luxury device like a Rolex or Omega was the biggest miss, IMO.

I still wear my Series 3 every day, but it's primarily for sleep tracking and a morning alarm. I've went back to my mechanical watches. My Omega Speedmaster Pro and Seamaster Pro, will outlast me. That doesn't mean that I don't like the AW, on the contrary, I feel that it's an amazing piece of tech that will just get better over time. I'll probably always own an AW. However, there's still something about a mechanical watch that speaks to me. I think both deserve equal respect for the jobs they are designed to do.

the burgeoning U.S. smartwatch market
Burgeoning? Unless it's rising from its own ashes of irrelevance, the smartwatch fad is dead except for the Apple Watch due to the strong brand and exceptional quality, but other than activity bands and sports gizmos, there is no smartwatch market.

The Apple watch 4 is the first one that doesnt run like a dog, that runs smoothly, and is actually fast enough to do stuff on without reaching for your phone.

I just upgraded from a Series 2 to the Series 4 with LTE. I find myself thinking on a regular basis that this is how the watch should have been from day one. This new one is a night and day difference from the previous versions. Don't regret my purchase one bit.

Which model the first series WBH-150? Those where great. I’m still looking for one of their very first commercials where a couple at a home dinner table and guy gets an sms from another woman and smirks. Hahaha.

It was called LiveView. Really slow but great for notifications when at work or for changing track and volume when playing music from my phone.

Ive did the same swap, and I have had the same thoughts.

Either you don't understand the definition of "failed", or you have a rather myopic view of the world.

If I don’t use it , it has failed. If I play a game and lose I have failed to win

In general things that I like are a success, call it myopic or whatever, it’s proved!

Unfortunately pebble was ruined for whatever reason, I liked the watch a lot, it was a conceptual masterpiece but poorly executed hardware.

Needing a watch for health might be fun on the short run but no sane human being would use it on the long run. Health can only be gained non digital, but yes apples Marketing will do anything to make You believe the opposite.

This might surprise you to know, but there are more people in the world, with different wants and needs, than just you. ;)

Really love my series 4 Apple watch but miss the durable ceramic coating as was on my Edition series 3.

This is false. I purchased my used Series 2 on eBay for use only at the gym. I didn't really care what condition it was in but ended up getting one that was pretty much brand new looking. The health data is so addicting that I quickly started wearing it all day.

Even if you wear it to the gym, the Apple Watch + Airpods (or any bluetooth headphones) is a match made in heaven. There's nothing better than going for a run or lifting with your music right in your ears and NO wires!

I highly recommend starting with a cheaper used Series 2 (at minimum) if you want to dabble with one for the gym only. I say Series 2 minimum because it's waterproof and has GPS.

The Apple watch is my main desire for wanting to switch to apple. The reason being the heart features, I just think they are a very worth while feature as you hear of 'healthy' people dying from heart attacks exc all the time. Now saying that I am not a huge fan of the activity tracking or app from the little bit I have played with friends. It seems like to me ones from garmin and fitbit have an edge there......but they don't have the heart features.

My plan is to probably slowly switch to apple over the next year with the watch being the main reason....ipad second because tablets that are not an ipad are less easy to find and one that I like.... even less. I like the design of the pro 11 and no touch ID, but don't want to spend that much either. I was hoping for a similar design for the upcoming ipad however since it's not looking like that will happen I will still get an ipad 6, or 7 because of the price. iphone by itself not really a reason to switch in my view.
