Hi All,
I am gathering a list of all the currently known Apple Watch limitations that we as users found out ourselves.
I currently gather a list with your help for the AW S0 to S3 and see if we hopefully can scrap some of those limitations with the S4 when its out. This is a list for new upcoming buyers of the AW like myself.
This list is to show as truthfully without bashing the limitations of the AW device based on opinions, so future buyers know better what to expect of their AW`s capabilities beside the obvious advertised ones, and what features in particular are NOT present/working, compared to our smartphones, as that is what our starting ground is to compare the usefulness of the AW.
Your continued use of the word limitations is what people are objecting to. Let's talk about that word specifically.
lim·i·ta·tion
ˌliməˈtāSH(ə)n/
noun
noun:
limitation; plural noun:
limitations; noun:
limitation period; plural noun:
limitation periods
- 1.
a limiting rule or circumstance; a restriction.
"severe limitations on water use"
synonyms: restriction, curb, restraint, control, check;
bar, barrier, block, deterrent
"a limitation on the number of guests"
antonyms: increase
- a condition of limited ability; a defect or failing.
"she knew her limitations better than she knew her worth"
synonyms: imperfection, flaw, defect, failing, shortcoming, weak point, deficiency, failure, frailty, weakness, foible
"he is aware of his own limitations"
antonyms: strength
- the action of limiting something.
"the limitation of local authorities' powers"
That second bullet is the source of contention here. By calling these things "limitations" of the Apple Watch itself, that's akin to saying they are defects, failings, deficiencies, etc. Again, of the Apple Watch itself, as if they are a flaw needing a revision of the product itself in order to correct. By calling out a single missing THIRD-PARTY app and then labeling that a "limitation" of the Apple Watch you are saying that there is something that needs to change about the Apple Watch, not that third-party app. The concept of creating such a list is certainly a fair thing to do, though I question its value in the context of this forum. What I find most objectionable about your list in general is that it takes items that are beyond the control of Apple and classifies them as fundamental product flaws. That is where your list leaves the realm of fact and enters the realm of opinion.
I love that people really try to defend their opinions with nail and tooth here.
- Regarding the speakers, just leave this topic if you keep whining about it not being good audio, the fact remains it is not supported by apple to listen music from the speakers. I elborated already where i come from on this point.
- The fact people disregard whatsapp and other major chat apps, is just dumb, most of those complainers here have it themselves on their iphone. There is no excuse for not having a dedicated version of whatsapp for the AW.. they are for every other mobile apple platform, the AW sells well enough. This is not a apple problem, and people miss-read into my OP to interpertate their own trolling agenda here, that is NOT what i mean with not shown on the apple site..
I believe you will find that I did not disregard whatsapp at all. In fact I said that it was unfortunate that the app is not available for the Apple Watch. My only objection is labeling this a limitation/flaw of the Apple Watch and NOT a limitation of Whatsapp.
For lots of people its a expectation that major apps are also available for the AW itself but its not.
This is a opinion on its own yes, but whatsapp/facebook is part of our society as we know it these days, its a very real part of our online communication lines.
Again, why is this a limitation of the Apple Watch instead of whatsapp? Whatsapp is owned by Facebook. Facebook Messenger does have a watch app. So clearly the talent exists within Facebook to create watch apps, but Facebook has CHOSEN not to create a watch app for Whatsapp. You're taking Facebook's choice and laying it at the feet of the Apple Watch. That makes no sense to me.
Sorry for coming off harsh, but i try to keep the list factual, there are lots of strong opinions here, and the occasional "troll" therefore, i try to keep this topic on the right path as i intended it.
Time for another definition:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem
Ad hominem (
Latin for "to the person"
[1]), short for
argumentum ad hominem, is a fallacious argumentative strategy whereby genuine discussion of the topic at hand is avoided by instead attacking the character, motive, or other attribute of the person making the argument, or persons associated with the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself.
[2]
If you disagree with what others are saying then state the reasons you disagree with them. Dismissing those who disagree with you as trolls is fallacious and does nothing to prove your point.
Simply because thats the whole reason of this post to list out factual things you can`t do with the AW, instead of lots of people coming here with opinions why items should not be listed.. Because in their opinion this or that reason..
While that has nothing to do with the fact of the matter why it`s listed. Because those are facts, that`s what we try to gather here, factual limitations. Not your reason, why in your opinion it should not be listed. That does not apply for this topic, it`s that simple.
[doublepost=1536299752][/doublepost]
Because, i did not ask for a discussion on the items listed, you and others are arguing about things listed accordingly to the OP rules and you want to let your opinion heard why it should not be listed for other reasons then it clearly is stated why its listed. but regardless you keep nagging, because you need to keep forcing your opinions upon people.
That`s the difference. I reply because i don`t want to get this topic polluted with your opinions on the list itself.
I think the real problem is that people constantly need to have a opinion on anything even if its a FACT, it needs to be debunked somehow with a opinion.
As I stated before, your goal of having a facts-based conversation failed because you yourself chose loaded terminology from the very start. Literally from the very first sentence.
Correct the apple Watch does not have a native Whatsapp app, the iphone does, THAT IS THE FACT. Service/device does not matter bottom line is, a native whatsapp app is not present on the AW.
And if you had stopped there then I don't think people would have a problem. But you didn't, you called it a limitation of the Apple Watch itself. I've already stated my reasons why this is problematic. Again, you're the one who chose this loaded language, not us.
