I have 2 email accounts set up in my Apple Mail Email Client, 1 icloud.com and the other is a gmail.com . Neither these accounts are sending notifications to my Apple Watch and my iphone is only sending alerts after the mail app is opened . I wonder if anyone has any suggestions or can offer help please.

In your iCloud mail account on your iPhone, do you have Push selected under Fetch New Data? Gmail only allows Fetch new data.

There is a problem with push and the stock email app at the moment. See the thread in the iOS 10 forum. Third party mail apps are the only ones guaranteed to push your mail at the moment.

Rather odd, but, my Apple Watch stopped sending notifications about email, too. However, it started after the latest update to the Watch, last night.

On the iPhone, I reset the notifications, and now just waiting for an email to see if it works as expected...
