I can see the haters are out in full force this morning.

If you don't want an Apple Watch, just don't get one. You don't have to take every opportunity to say "I don't like that." If I'm going to listen to any criticisms, it'll be by people who actually reviewed the product as opposed to people who never used one, let alone seen one in person.

Great. I'll take your advice.

I have no interest in sewing machines so I think I'll find a sewing machine forum/website to let people know I'm not interested in whatever latest sewing machine model is being talked about in that world.

On second thought... Nah. You "non-interested, yet reading/commenting about it" folks just keep on with what you're doing.

I'll stick to spending my time on stuff I'm interested in.

Right ? People KILL me commenting on things they don't care about .

So interesting to see the genius of marketing (Apple) at work. Next I want to see Taylor Swift wearing one on her left ankle.

From his instagram post, looks like a gold edition model. Looks really nice.

The hater comments in this thread are hilarious. Bad music? He's only the most successful producer in the last couple decades.

The "Watch" represents a big product and marketing change for Apple. Many of us are upset that Apple has delayed/stopped development of their other products, i.e; Airport Express/Extreme, iMac, iPad, Thunderbolt, AppleTV...

Apple is marketing expensive jewelry with their Watch. Fashion is a quixotic enterprise, especially for a technology company.

They have multiple teams working on different things. The watch (not sure why you put it in quotes) should have no affect on the development of other projects.

And they just came out with a 5k iMac, and they're going to come out with a new "iPad Pro" and updated Apple TV later this year.

How do you sell a grossly overpriced product ?

You make it a fashion statement, Like every other Apple product,

Ohh I forgot to watch tonight...get it?

Looks like the white sport is the band of choice for alot of people.

No, I don't think anyone got your joke; way too subtle... honest. :p

Nothing better than having your new product sported by the guy who wrote the Date Rape anthem of 2013. Good job, Apple.

Maybe you could go and advise Apple how to in their business - they seem to be doing terribly at it, leaking money in every direction...

Actually no. Most people I know would go:

"What is that loser wearing on his wrist? It's an Apple Watch? Wow has Apple really sunk that low?"

That's exactly why you chose celebrities that never go out of fashion. That will get sales of the version 1 watch happening. And then they can sell version 2 using the sales of version 1 as a starting point.

Also why only choose young celebrities to advertise the Apple watch on? Pick some celebrities who are older to advertise it too. Like the over 50 ones too. There are a lot of very rich over 50 people in the world who want to be surrounded by the best tech available and they care about the fashion sense of it too. These people really don't care how many pop singers wear the watch. But if they think it'll be a conversation point at a meeting or just the thing to go with their tuxedo or dress for that gala ball they will get one.

Apple also should have done a deal to get it on Daniel Craig's wrist in the new James Bond movie.

Who's to say Pharrell Williams will be the only celebrity wearing an Apple Watch? Apple will likely have multiple celebrities who target multiple demographics wearing this thing over the next several months. People who are watching this show likely are interested in him and what he's wearing, also those who listen to his music, which seems to be pretty popular. He's been around for over 15 years so I'm certain he has considerable influence over a given demographic that Apple might be interested in.

As for the over 50 thing, while older people do own most of the wealth here, if Apple hooks a 25-30yr old on their product then they have a lifelong customer. If they get a 50-60yr old on their product then they have a 10-15yr customer at the most. The late 20s/early 30s demographic is more important in the sense of long term strategy.

Either way I'm sure we'll start to see multiple celebrities who influence multiple demographics wearing one pretty soon.

He wasn't forced to be interested in the watch, but you were forced to waste time reading his comment. How is that possible.

It's possible because the first person actually clicked on the article to read something he 'wasn't interested in.' The second person had no choice but to read the comment while he was reading the article that he 'WAS' interested in. See the difference?

I agree that it's a smart feature, but does this also mean most of the time you're just sporting a black screen on your wrist? Hardly fashionable IMO.

That is most certainly the case if you want to conserve battery. If the lcd is on 3 hours straight, that would pretty much make it a just an expensive "metal" weight.

huh.......rethink what you said here.

You also dont necessarly need to have smarthphone to breathe and walk on the earth, but you are now used to have it and think it is indispensable for your existance. So yes, it isnt necessary but how you may know until you have started to use it.

We bought our new iPhone 6/6+ for their magnificently large screens, and now Apple want us to put something between us and it. To me it just makes no sense when I can pull my handset out of my pocket.

I'm not saying it'll be useless for everybody, and I hope people enjoy it. I can't see the point, however.

The smartphone is a different kettle of fish altogether.

Well this is a good point.
And you are right it would not generally matter.

The difference here is that Apple screw up and ruin the WHOLE industry.
If no one else took any notice whatsoever of what they did, and totally disregarded Apple then, like your sewing machine analogy, it would not matter.

The problem is, other companies/managers/CO's do take notice.
Then other products by other brands get wrecked as a by product of what Apple does.

THAT'S the problem, and why some get annoyed.

Apple definitely screwed up the MP3 player industry and the phone industry. I am still so sad about my WalkMan and BlackBerry, I weep every other day or so.

Apple is not choosing the celebrities it gives the Apple Watches to very well. If this was a non Apple product seeing this person wearing one would make me not want to buy it. Just having it on his hand would cost them my sale. He has zero fashion sense.

You weren't the target on this one. A lot of people really admire Pharrell's fashion sense, specifically.
