Exaxtly. This isn't news, it's sales.
I'm sure Apple gave the magazine early access to people/products in return for very favorable media coverage. Apple does this all the time. Did money trade hands? Who knows.

Meanwhile, in the real world, mainstream media has a collective yawn about these watches. No one cares outside of this fanboy tent.

Agree. Apple hired a bunch of retail execs and product placement is part of that world. It'd be delusional for anyone to conclude this represents some sort of validation of the watch. Its extremely unlikely women will buy this product is any numbers.

this directly contradicts the recent 'has no health or heart sensor' threads around here.

Part of "Apple Magic" is to repeatedly leak features in advance, much like all the hype about the iPhone 6 "crystal."

Then retract it later just before release with no criticism or push back.

Conversely the competitors would be slayed if they pulled such things.

It's good to be Apple :)

Wow, I don't know why I didn't expect coverage like this. I'm impressed. Candice Swanepoel, first of all, is hot as h*ll and she has been my favorite Victoria's Secret Angel for a long time.

What kind of person has a favourite Victoria's Secret Angel?

Damn It! The more I look at the device the more I like it, and the more I look at my 3rd gen iPod Nano that I got in 2007 and it's still rolling fine And think Apple make exceedingly good little devices...

I've always liked the Apple Watch design. But I would have to wear it as a second device on one wrist, my Tissot on the other.

any momentum that develops for the watch will be apple fans looking to express brand participation. Thats not an inconsiderable market--probrably enough to make the watch a limited success. But apple seems interested in making a "fashion play". This may just be the delusions of all the retail types they hired in the product run up. But the watch will be a hard sell to women imo.

I actually disproved what she just said in this very thread (previous page) with dozens of links to mainstream press in the last 3 weeks (out of hundreds, you can google more) and you chime in? Ok then. Good to see you only read what comforts your opinion.

What's the current market like for wrist mounted EKG's?
I'm not sure where this EKG business came from, but it's not possible to have any sort of EKG reading from the wrist region. EKG's measure electrical activity, a wrist monitor measures pulse, which is a mechanical property, not electrical. You could possibly make some inference about the rhythm from the pulse, perhaps alerting the user if it were irregular, but this would still tell you nowhere near the information of an EKG or even a rhythm monitor.

Just wait. For every Apple Watch they sell, they'll sell at least 2 bands. It's a brilliant move by Apple.

My order has been ready..42mm space black apple watch, space black link braclet, and stone leather loop. And maybe down the road, and depending on price, the Milanese loop. But ur totally correct..most people are going to own 2 or 3 bands.

These are just some in the mainstream press (probably a small fraction since I got bored looking... )

Articles/reporting on Apple on the watch only in mainstream media within the last 3 weeks. There are loads of other Apple reporting that also mentions the watch indirectlly.

I agree with the op that these links represent a "collective yawn". None of them discuss the merits of the watch or why it will succeed. The Forbes article is detailing whats not going to be in the watch--its very similar to a wall street journal article on the same issue. The NY Times article is mostly about the samsung watch with an open ended addenda about the fact the apple watch is about to be released. The Telegraph article is about Apples string of hit products. Most of the other articles are just press release recapitulations.

So I repeat my comment--there is no buzz for this product. No one seems to know what it is supposed to do--although some will detail what it wont do--health sensors etc. Also, the watch is ugly, chunky and heavy--so there are no aesthetic raves. Just a bunch of news makers putting out perfuntory press release chowder

Your selection of articles does not make your case--its at best disingenuous

OK, lets see what happens after the next press conference with the details. Remember, its been almost 5 months since the initial not even 30 minute spotlight. Considering that, and the little that is known of the watch. I think Apple has a pretty high profile already.

Apple is just about to start its PR/marketing push for the watch; your about to hear lot more about within 3-4 weeks.

I totally disagree (totally your interpretation) and considering all your previous posts, It is beyond ironic that you talk about being disingenuous. Even if i spent all day finding posts that proves my point you'd still yawn; doesn't matter one way or the other to you.

Um

So, I noticed the March issue of Self while waiting in line at Safeway the other day. Guess what? Candice Swanepoel is certainly on the cover, but no, she ISN'T wearing the Apple Watch. Nor is the pic in this MacRumors story the cover photo. What gives??

a realistic apple watch ad should showing a dark watchface.. as it would need to be touch to come alive..

You're not suppose to place your phone in the back pocket or else it bends. Didn't you learn anything after the iphone 6 was released? And judging from her size a iPhone 6 plus would cover half her butt.

The winky was there because it was sort of... a... joke... ah, whatever never mind.

Publications will often use different covers in different markets.
