it's hard to take your comments seriously. look at the comparison. the ONLY thing that the apple watch has on samsung's is the nfc payment (i guess apple also has the hoards of mindless fanboys too). also, gizmodo is making the apple watch look better by saying it has things that it needs as iPhone for, whereas the samsung watch does on it's own.

i'm not saying that the samsung watch is great, but i am saying that the apple watch is overpriced garbage. it's not even waterproof!

You saying that it is "Overpriced Garbage" is hyperbole. What can you actually base that statement on? The Sport model is competitively priced and the other two have a build quality with materials that Samsung didn't compete with. Whether or not the product has a point outside of vanity is quite another. I am not interested in owning the Apple Watch, but if someone forced me to wear one and I was given the choice between any Samsung watch and the Apple Watch I know which one I would choose.

If I buy a smart watch at all it will likely be a Moto 360 if google brings support to iOS or the Microsoft Band. I don't want to be locked into Apple phones despite that being what I currently use (6 Plus).

i guess we can agree to disagree. they didn't release anything new - it's basically what samsung did a year ago with an apple logo on it. they definitely wanted this thing to come out ages ago, but they probably ran into tons of issues (the main ones probably being "why are we making this, and who the eff will want to buy it).

Of course it is. I'm sure the UX on the Samsung was great, easily as good as Apple's, just like it is on all Samsung products...

</sarcasm>

Not to mention the stupid freaking camera that Samsung plastered on the thing. The Galaxy Gear was a terrible device.

If your phone is used for work, than the watch would come in handy no doubt. But if you dont use your phone for work purposes, than your phone should be put away and concentrating on your work, not your phone while at work.

I personally dont want to be bombarded with work stuff 24/7. Nor do i need notifications every second of the day. Nor want them.

Just my opinion put the thing that gets me every time is not the notifications, but the fact the watch will be obsolete three years down the road, just like a phone. If you buy the cheaper version than no big deal, the more expensive versions would be though. You just cant trade it in like a iphone. You wear the watch. It is going to take a beating and no one is going to buy a obsolete used product.

What makes you think it will be obsolete in a short time? Most of its functions are based on what model iPhone you have and the apps. Other than cosmetic differences, battery upgrade and maybe a new kind of sensor (which could be band-based via the mystery port), I don't see why someone would need to buy a new one that often. Upgrading the phone should mostly upgrade the watch. Time will tell.

The day I allow Fox News and Walmart updates on my watch will be the day after I get a frontal lobotomy. ;)

It's never been a problem before people heard of smartwatches.

Actually, it has but people put up with it because they didn't have a choice. Before remotes, nobody had a problem with getting off the couch to change the channel on the tv, either. How many people do that now if given a choice?

if you're going to close your "sarcasm" tag, you have to open it first. anyway, i much prefer the samsung version of android to iOS. iOS sure is pretty, but it does nothing.

If it's worth the extra $400++ for the convenience, rather than just pulling out your phone, then it's certainly worth it for you. I do not think this is going to be a big product category for Apple.

I suspect, after the novelty wears out, it will be quite useless for most people other than for some additional health monitoring and other niche applications - which I suspect is where the only future for it lies anyway.

What is $400... I mean really? One days work at the office? For some people, one hours worth of work? Even if you make minimum wage, you're only looking at about a week's worth of work to fund a purchase you'll use for a minimum of a year.

IDK... maybe I'm in the minority, but that seems worth it to me.

Don't forget some people find it ridiculous to pay $2.99 for an app that might be useful to them (solves a problem they described, etc). And some people insist on buying the low end $99 iPhone on a 2 year contract when the $199 one is twice as fast and would last them another year before it feels slow with the current OS... Not to suggest $400 isn't significant real money, but I see people spend $50/week in bars without batting an eye, so :)
