Aside from a different band and some new faces, I'm really not seeing a difference. What is the major draw for the Nike version because I'm not seeing it. (unless it's the band and the faces). Really, is that it? You can even run NRC on a Series 2 so even less differentiation.

Well you hit it on the head. Its the band and faces. People like having something different. I love the black and volt and I am doing everything in my power to not pull the trigger and buy it! Bought a knock off band, but not sure that will scratch the itch.

correct. not much different other than the band and watch face. NRC is preinstalled but you can install it anyway.

If they sold the Nike bands separately, there would be no reason to buy the Nike Watch. You could pick up any AW S2 and make your "own" Nike version. (I do not particularly care about the Watch faces)

Sadly, this is not possible today.

So...it's $100 more than the Series 2 for basically the different bands and faces? I was really hoping to at least get some new/different running functionality with this watch but even that's not the case. Seems like the only real advantage is to stand out in the crowd more. I'm not criticizing...I think if you have the money that's great. It just seems like it's a very limited target audience.

It is the exact same price as an alum AW S2, but you cannot get the Nike band any other way. It costs $100 more than the Series 1.

You're right...I misread that on the Apple Store site...apologies.

I have the black/Grey as well.... but I disagree about being able to wear it at work. I got that colour because I thought it would be ok but it does not look good with my dress shirts at all. I went and bought a genuine dark leather band to wear for work and switch out to the sports band for the gym/running/swimming.

I wish I had gotten the volt now though since the black/grey is a little boring.

Interesting. I feel it looks fine with dress shirts. May just be a matter of taste.

That said, I've worn sports watches as an everyday watch for over ten years, so my opinion may be skewed.

I'm in a business casual corporate culture where suits and ties are rare, but have done the suit/tie plenty when on outside consulting assignments and never felt it was out of place.

I can imagine that it may not fly in a more business formal environment. Even so, with an athletic (lean) build making a sporty looking band congruous, I'd think fairly few environments wouldn't be suitable.

But as I said at the start of the post, probably a matter of taste. (though if I worked somewhere that someone took me aside to tell me the black/gray band wasn't appropriate attire I'd be seeking sending out resumes that evening... life's too short for that sort of nitpicking environment)

Check out Amazon or eBay. For $10-20 you can get a black/volt- cheap work around. I am pleased with my mine.

Agreed. I wear suit and tie and have the Green volt version. It's no different than a flashy tie or colorful socks. Just an accessory. half the time you can barely see it on my arm.

I agree with black/gray band working well in the corporate office environment.

The 42mm with the black/gray band seems to be the most popular because it is always out of stock first. I am going back and forth between the black/volt and black/gray. I normally wear high visibility yellow shirts when I run, so the volt will go well when I am on the road. However, it might be a little loud for everyday use in the office.

Decision, decisions....

To my surprise, my local Apple store had the 42mm black/gray in stock. Just placed an order for pickup.

So, aside from the band and faces, the only difference is a preinstalled NRC. Can this be removed from Nike watches? Or is it some sort of built-in hard coded feature that it is impossible to git rid of?
I like the bands but as far as software is concerned I want to wipe out everything of Nike.

Seems possible. I've not deleted it but if I to the tap-and-hold on the app display NRC does pop up with a "x"

Yes it can be uninstalled. There is an option for it in the Watch app settings

For the faces, what if you do a software update and/or have to hard reset the watch? Do they get uninstalled/erased?
Hard reset would not because they are part of wOS and not 'made in the watch' [ROM chip]. In all likelihood they will at the very least be included in future wOS updates too.
