So is the US apple store going to have reservation as well starting today midnight Pacific time?
Almost all 42mm (in USA) still have 1-2 week shipping window so I doubt we'll see those in store right away. Store employees and online chat have told me they want to ship online orders first before stocking stores.
I bet 38mm will be available. Who knows though until we see actual stock in store. Apple has surprised us in the past with different online ship dates vs. in person pickup.
I wouldn't cancel any online orders until you know for sure the exact model is in store.

I'm yet to see anyone actually wearing one in Australia, though it's winter and sleeves might be covering them. I don't understand how Apple, who announced this ages ago, is taking so long to get stock available. Together with the weird purchase process they are using, I wonder if this is all managed to make it look more successful than it actually is.
I dont have an Apple store nearby but do have a simplymac store. Does anyone know if they will be carrying the watch in their stores?
Not as much as you might think. There are no walk ins sales of watches. You have to reserve online. If you do a watch try on you can do the reserve in store and they will let you go ahead and pay ahead of your pick up time. But you have to still do the reserve
And they are scaled according to how many staff are allotted for watch sales. That way not everyone is sucked into that and nothing else gets sold. So it's possible the system might tell you that all the watches are sold out not because they really are but because all the slots are full.
The BF's only issue with the system is that Angela seems to be opposed to using it for the fall launches, when the lines are packed with resellers etc. they are hoping to convince her that such a system needs to be in place at least for the first few days.

In store pickup is available in the UK too and they have stocks of 42mm SGS at every store I checked!
UK stores on London and Manchester have started reservations for in store pick ups
There were SS 42 BSB available for June 19 shipping a couple of hours ago. It is once again pushed back to June 30. I almost pulled the trigger, but saw this article. The online orders mean almost nothing at this point. You will be able to order online, and pickup in-store well before June 30. Hopefully today...
Maybe it got lost under all that white cloud and they couldn't see NZ as they flew over with stock for Oz.
4g of music space does make the watch equal to the original iPod mini, ironically.
But, really there is no irony. Cheap and free phones are behind the vanishing iPod, not watches. Why have a separate device for music when you can put it on your phone--and you always have that phone on you?
I know a lot of people will probably always plump for the 42... but I bought the 38 and am so glad I did as it is really streamlined looking... so perhaps if you can't get a 42 it might be worth trying a 38 as you might be as surprised as me
