I know a lot of people will probably always plump for the 42... but I bought the 38 and am so glad I did as it is really streamlined looking... so perhaps if you can't get a 42 it might be worth trying a 38 as you might be as surprised as me

Right there with you. After an in-store sizing/demo last Friday the 38mm felt much more discreet, less of a statement than the 42mm did. The 38mm slips under the shirt cuff nicely in a way that the 42mm didn't quite manage.

Have the 38mm Sport space grey reserved for in-store pickup at Manchester Trafford this evening. Have to say I'm liking this sort of soft in-store launch a la the iPad mini 2/first retina mini; so much more pleasant to stroll in and collect than to put up with queues of aggressive scalpers.

I've never done this in-store pickup thing. Do they assign you the first possible reservation time slot, or are you able to select a time you can stop by. Definitely want to pick one up in the US today, but that stupid thing called work gets in the way.

Ok
Yeh! - 42mm Space Grey reserved in Sheffield for pickup this morning - Watch ordered online still says delivery 26/6 - 3/7, hitting the cancel button in 3... 2... 1...
I tried but my phone won't send to the text reservation number.

4g of music space does make the watch equal to the original iPod mini, ironically.

But, really there is no irony. Cheap and free phones are behind the vanishing iPod, not watches. Why have a separate device for music when you can put it on your phone--and you always have that phone on you?
Battery. That's why I still have an iPod

Got mine about three weeks ago and I feel the same way. I feel sad if, for whatever reason, I have to take it off and leave it behind, and I look forward to putting it on every morning. Odd, I'm sure, as I imagine people seeing me through the day would think I hardly use the watch at all. But that's the thing about the watch. You use it differently than a phone or iPad, mainly because you can't lift your arm and stare at it for long stretches of time. It's for glances, not staring. You get a tap, see a message, maybe send a quick response...then go back to whatever you were doing. Ditto with most everything else. Check the time (glance), note reminders when they pop up (glance), incoming phone calls, etc.

I use to miss texts and calls a lot because my phone was in my bag and I didn't hear it, or I did and thought it was someone else's phone. The taps on the wrist make sure I don't miss texts or calls nearly so much. And I'm finding that most of the things I used to do on the phone, I now do on the watch, like check my shopping list, do quick calculations, pay for groceries/coffee; I like that it don't have to juggle it hand to hand as I often did the phone in a lot of those situations (and I'm not going to drop it like I sometimes dropped the phone).

As for phone calls...I think we've found the weakness in Dick Tracy. It's tiring lifting your arm for a long conversation :D But I did impress my father by showing off the watch's phone-call-making abilities to him. And it's certainly useful as it not only lets you know if you want to answer that call, but if you do, it keeps you from missing it. I sometimes missed calls as I tried to find my phone before it stopped ringing. And, no, it was never a tragedy when that happened...but it's nice to have it happen less.

The most authentic review I have seen since its release and match my thoughts exactly on my use of the watch.

Others have always raved about the design but never commented on real world usage. This product will take a few years to gain momentum but I am happy so far.

Just picked up mine few hours ago in Hong Kong.
Very nice watch bag!

There is also limited availability in Germany. Go to online tool. Choose watch to buy. Look at bottom of page for in store pickup. Click wheel pickably indicates stores with stock for pickup in black. Poking around I see the black sport is available in some stores.

Same in the UK, my local Apple shops all have the one I was eyeing up (sapphire lens Apple Watch with black sports band). Must say now it's there I'm tempted to pick one up.

There's an option since last night but mines is still disabled and have a message "come back at 8am". I have an order that just got changed to Preparing for Shipment last night as well. Once I see it available in stores, I will do the in store pickup and cancel the PFS. Anyone else doing this? :)
