Yup im sure for those whose lives it saved or helped them with their fitness call it a toy lol. I would say an expensive mechanical watch that pretty useless now a days is a toy. My AW is a true tool watch where my Daytona is just a toy.
im sure Guess, Michael Kors etc watches outsell Swiss watch market, but they dont beat the swiss watch ever.

swiss watches and apple watch are entire for differend people althought some swiss watch makers does good-looking smart watches too. choosing to wear my apple watch or some of my automatic watches only, there is no question which one. apple watch is a fun and quite useful toy - but still a toy.

I just want to point out that the time on Apple Watch is always more accurate than any mechanical watches - no matter how expensive they are - as well so calling it “a toy” while compared it to an inferior product is kinda strange.

@mrex should call them as they are. Apple Watch = a tool, mechanical watch = jewelry.

I own one luxury swiss watch that I love the look of, but the Apple Watch just does too many other things well that I now rely on. I keep it, but I've often thought about selling it.

See, I don’t think I could ever just sell my mechanical watch because I don’t ‘wear it‘, because my Apple Watch is worn more often. There will be a time where you’re going to want to resort to a mechanical watch, and you’d probably regret that you sold it. I’ve had that happen already to me a few times where I sold watches that I wish I would’ve kept, the Apple Watch is an amazing device that does a lot of things, but it will never, ever replace the legacy of what a true mechanical watch executes.

Not everybody wants a tool on their wrist though, many still like something that just tells the time and looks classy.

Yes but back in the day Rolex was considered a tool watch now its just an expensive piece of jewelry with limited functionality. Pocket watches used to be nice too but look what happened to those.

The armed forces still use standard watches as tool watches. If you are in the market for a Rolex then the presence of an Apple Watch is not going to make any difference. The price difference between the two is huge and it’s more likely to take sales off Casio’s, Seiko’s or Citizens.

I'm stuck with a 1st world problem. I prefer my Daytona way over the Apple watch as a nice piece of non disposable jewelry that I have so much more pride wearing. The problem is just, like my iPhone the AW is almost becoming sa must to wear everyday. I have the notifications set perfectly where I don't have to pull out my phone as much. I find all the complications I have set up on the watch face very useful such as text messages, GMT, temp, timer, activity etc. I'm a active person but the activity apps even motivate me more. I am sharing activity with many friends and am finding it fun to complete with. The days I wear the Daytona it throws off all my metrics for activity etc. I really wish it didn't look stupid to wear both but i'm certainly not. I agree the AW is not that attractive etc but man its almost a must just like the iPhone is now.
