I'm fifty and I loved earning the badges. It keeps the middle age pudge at bay.

But goodness, I wish this could be extended to Black Friday. I don't shop, it's too insane around here for that. I would put my miles in then.

But on the day itself, sorry but I've got my family and my husband's family coming over. That's a LOT of people to cook for and clean up after even with my husband splitting the work with me. I'm often up until 2:00 am cleaning up after a Thanksgiving Dinner and often work well into the next day. This year, the football team they all root for is playing. I'll be serving drinks and snacks and fetching and carrying well into the night even after dinner is over.

Hmm...maybe I'll go ahead and wear my watch and see if I earn miles running around like a serving wench for 12 hours! :p

OK, I'm game but my question is does the 3.1 have to be all 1 activity? Can I run 2 miles and walk a mile. Or Treadmill run and elliptical?

After all your cleaning is finished at 2:00 AM, You should easily earned your badge and a hard drink GrumpyMom (Although, I might be grumpy if I was cleaning until 2:00 AM too.)

Haha yeah, I'm not knocking the achievement per se. I'm definitely going to give it a shot. I'm just salty that it's going to be <35 degrees Fahrenheit and raining/snowing on Thursday where I live, so then I looked and my gym isn't open because it's Thanksgiving.
[doublepost=1479739883][/doublepost]

Yeah I'm curious if it has to be one continuous workout and if it has to be specified as a workout or if the walking throughout the day works towards a cumulative goal.

You will have to select a workout in the workout app or it will not count. But you could just start an indoor walk workout and let it go all day :D

Because you're looking at this article short sighted with a snide remark. It has nothing to do with a "Sticker." It has everything to do with motivating and challenging the individual to push themselves to a goal. This is what the Apple Watch was intended to do.

Apologies for ruining your day.

I'd like to challenge Apple to earn a Thanksgiving Day activity achievement
by firing Tim, Eddy, Phil and Jony Al u min i um.

What are the odds that Apple's own execs will earn one of these?

It always cracks me up to see some of these guys on stage trying to hide their bellies under loose shirts, whilst bragging about some fitness app.

It's almost as hypocritical as the way that Jobs pushed devices like the iPad, while not allowing his own kids to use one because he knew that such gizmos destroyed common social and family interaction.

Lol, I'm more Zombiemom than Grumpymom after Thanksgiving. At least my husband splits the work with me. I actually don't mind the work as long as everyone behaves.

My one sister-in-law is always punching me. She's my favorite, too, lol. I am the only person who can get away with yelling at her but I do have to run fast! We have a lot of fun together. We bought her an Apple Watch Sport last year for her birthday and we were competing for badges. She earned way more badges than me because she belongs to a gym. But I'm still skinnier so, nah nah! (Now you get an idea why she punches me! I'm a brat.) Anyway I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone. I married into a very interesting family and fortunately they all get along with my family.

Unfortunately I can't exercise with any of them other than my one sister-in-law. If it weren't so freezing cold she and I could probably sneak out with our watches and our Pokemon Go while everyone else is watching football. But as it is, we are not penguins so we will just have to stay inside and get pudgy.

From what I have read on here, most have said earning the badges have become addicting, which is a good thing. I mainly weight lift with My Apple Watch, but I think the badges is an incentive to work harder and challenge yourself.

Have a great Thanksgiving @GrumpyMom.

Eddy Cue would disagree with you.

You have a great Thanksgiving, too. I'm going to start lifting again, too. I still have some work left to do on my house and some healing to do from a precancerous condition that I had taken care of. But once that's all done I'm going to start working out with weights. There was a study which I ran across on one of my news services a couple weeks ago that said weightlifting exercises help stave off senility. Even if it doesn't, I could do with firming up the stomach a bit. I may be around the same age as Eddy and Jony but I don't want to be around the same shape! :p

Interesting read about the weightlifting comment. Then I will keep working harder! I laughed at the @kdarling comment above on how the executives hide behind the loose shirts. Hope all goes well with the healing process.

I'm in the US and never got the notification. Well, maybe I did but stupidly cleared it out without reading it. Will I still be able to get the achievement? It's not in my Achievement draw.

I didn't get the notification either, but the badge showed up in the Achievement tab. Look carefully, it's at the very top, above the other badges in a separate section.

I was motivated by this and went out and did it. Unfortunately, I tend to walk for a mile or two, then run for a bit. Today it all added up to just over 4 miles (then I did 3 more miles on my water rower). I'm 64, and trying to get rid of this extra weight I have. Been working out every day... Watch has been great. However, today, despite the fact that I did more than the requirement I did it in a walk, then a run. It didn't them add up, so now I feel a bit ripped off.

Well that stinks! That is so disappointing. You should have gotten credit for all the distance covered.

I can't really run. I mean, yeah if something is chasing me, sure. But not as exercise, because I inherited my mom's tendency toward joint inflammation and so I never know when my knees will protest. I run around a bit playing soccer with the kids. But that's not sustained running. I do love to walk and never seem to get tired doing so, but today was not the day for it. It looks like a bomb went off in my kitchen.

My sister-in-law and I are just taking a break from cleanup to see if there are any good sales online. She and my mother-in-law are actually going to malls tomorrow. That's insane. I can't stand malls on a regular day, let alone when literally everyone and their mother (mwahahaha) are going to be packing the mall. I think Apple should give a special badge for surviving a trip through the mall on Black Friday.

Poop I had to stop my run at 2.25 miles. Then I started a new run for 2 more miles. Doesn't seem like I'll get it since it wasn't continuous

I did the run, 3.12 miles, in Runtastic which posts to apple health but it didn't give me the badge. I then tried to walk it using the apple workout app, was curious as to whether it was accurate or not and started Runtastic on my phone and it shut off my walking workout app at 11:32 pm, no way to complete now

Sorry you didn't get the badge. Oh well at least you're in better shape than my turkey filled self is. Fitness is its own reward I guess. But it is fun earning those badges.

I did 3.3 miles with Runkeeper and didn't get it either. Seems like a bug as it stated very clearly that you could use 3rd party apps. It even shows up in my Activities app. Frustrating...
