I can't imagine that Pebble is still going to be around in 2020.
...I want -
- control over the screen staying on.....
- watch face dev tools
- 3rd party app speed....
Kind of like smart phones were when the iPhone was new. I mean, look at those underwhelming numbers from the iPhone's first year!I think smart watches as a whole are still just a novelty tech gizmo, not that much around if you filter out geeks - and I know plenty of geeks who don't care about them, too.
Congrats. You solved the mystery to extend all battery life!I figured out an easy way to extend the battery life. First completely charge it. Then when you take it off the charger, hold the power button and slide the Power Off slider to the right.
I can't even remember when I last charged the thing.

I don't think so. I went to starbucks today, and the barista was wearing one. Then I went to footlocker and the salesperson was wearing one. And people all around me were wearing one. Maybe there's just a lot of geeks where I live.I think smart watches as a whole are still just a novelty tech gizmo, not that much around if you filter out geeks - and I know plenty of geeks who don't care about them, too.
I know I'll end up getting one, as the appeal of health tracking with an integrated device makes a lot of sense, but I have had a hard time just thinking about giving up wearing my automatic watch, that has been on my wrist for the past 11 years and never failed me.
I'm hoping Apple can eek out some additional battery life with their next iteration, so that I don't have to think about charging it every night. Maybe they could add in an automatic rotational charger to provide a bit more life to the Watch and create a hybrid mechanical / electronic Watch.
Oh how I LOVE my apple watch!!!

And what does this say about 2020? Nothing at all, other than speculation.Kind of like smart phones were when the iPhone was new. I mean, look at those underwhelming numbers from the iPhone's first year!

Sure looks like flop territory to me!
Now give V2 a proper battery life and I might consider one.

It IS a flop in Apple standards, regarding Apples undenibale ambitions this being the next big thing after the iPod, iPhone and iPad. The curse of an unparalleled success story in the last 15 years.
The watch is the most obvious casualty of Microsoft's insistence on a single UI for Windows under all possible conditions. This was supposed to be their big idea for the next fifteen years, and all it has done is piss off their business users, and make it largely impossible to move the UI to new form factors (watch as the obvious example). No Windows 10 watch?
I agree. The few people I know that have one all say just that. The battery needs to be improved, other than that it's a nice product.
I still have to find a definite, $350-$550 purpose for the thing before I get one, but I'm liking where it's going so far.
I think some people have unrealistic expectations and expect sales to immediately reach iPhone levels.
I agree with you... so many people I know who don't even wear watches went from "I wouldn't want one" to "I think I am going to get one".I don't think so. Do we have an alternative with week of battery life?I can't imagine that Pebble is still going to be around in 2020.
At least you know it sounds cuckoo.Totally different and not comparable point of depature when it comes to customer base, brand awaresness and advance trust in the new "big thing" product by Apple back then and now.
If Apple is not working VERY hard on the 2nd generation and/or cut the price, the future of the watch will go nowhere. (And yes, I know this sounds cuckoo when talking about 14 million sold units.)
