...perhaps different notifications act differently - I just got an @mention from the tweetbot app and my watch did indeed vibrate, I felt it, and the screen lit up!

the other thing I could think of is the looseness of your band? do you have the watch on pretty tight to your skin or is it hanging loose a little bit?

I'd say it was more tight than loose. I have fairly thin wrists - I'm using the default S/M black sports band and the pin is in the 4th hole along from the edge of the watch.

I'm gonna test to see how many notifications I can feel, later on when I get home - will ask the wife to send me a bunch of messages to test it out!!

Hi Dino

Hope you are enjoying your new apple sport, can I ask where did you get it from in the end was it your friend in Ireland?

Also on your #15
"2. I just received a phone call (I answered it on my phone) and although the watch was vibrating (in a "ring ring" pattern), the screen did not light up? Again - is this correct? I would have thought that the screen should have lit up showing me the caller?"

I thought this was a problem on my watch too, but the watch only lights up when you raise your wrist. So it will vibrate if your arm is 'down' but not light up. This is normal.

I charge my watch for about an hour and 1/2 at 8.15 pm and wear when asleep.

All sounds are off on my iPhone & apple watch sport. I find this much less stressful (not too keen on ring tones etc) & the haptic only is one of the key features of having the apple watch, for me.

You may find having the sound off on both devices, actually helps with the notice the haptic feedback.

Cheers

Another few questions!!

I have the 'Raise to Wake' feature currently turned off.

1. It seems that whenever I get a notification from an app, it will light up the screen - which is fine, however, if I get an Activity notification (like to stand up or another activity related one), although the watch will vibrate, it does NOT light up the screen? Is this how its supposed to work?!

2. I just received a phone call (I answered it on my phone) and although the watch was vibrating (in a "ring ring" pattern), the screen did not light up? Again - is this correct? I would have thought that the screen should have lit up showing me the caller?

3. Just an observation - I realized last night that the only way to get the Apple Watch out of 'Power Reserve' mode, is to turn it off, and turn it back on again?! Surely Apple could have implemented an option to just turn 'Power Reserve' off again?!

No, didn't get it from my mate as couldn't justify forking out the full price (although it was slightly cheaper) all in one go! I still bought it direct from Apple though but chose their finance option, which worked at paying just under £60 every month for the next 5 months until its payed off (first payment is due at end of this month!). That way, I can spread the payments(I know its a little more expensive long term but its more manageable that way).

Thanks for confirming about the watch not lighting up when a caller calls until you raise your wrist - that's good to know.

I still find something a little weird though?!

When the 'Raise to Wake' feature is enabled, I still find that I miss vibrations and notifications on the watch. I will look at my watch, and the red dot will be on the screen and I will then think back if I felt the vibration - which I did not.

However, when I then disable this, I will then notice every vibration for every notification?!

Do the notification vibrations and screen lighting up, when 'Raise to Wake' is enabled, depend on where your hand is (so if its down, it may not notify/vibrate but if your hand is raised, it will notify/vibrate)?

Hi Dino,

Hope you find the apple watch as useful as I do.

Not sure actually about why with 'Raise to Wake' off you are getting a better notification response.

Will have to let someone else answer your query.

Cheers

Ok, I'm still slightly confused about notifications on my Apple Watch?!

I thought that if I had the 'Raise to Wake' feature disabled and a notification comes in - the Apple Watch will NOT light up the screen. This is indeed correct and is how the watch behaves.

HOWEVER, if the 'Raise to Wake' feature is ENABLED, and a notification comes in (whilst the screen is not actually lit up already), the screen still does NOT light up??? I tested this by wearing my watch and getting my wife to send me a text. I made sure that the screen of my watch was NOT already lit up. When the text left her phone, my Apple Watch dinged and it also vibrated to indicate a notification had arrived HOWEVER the screen did NOT light up?!?!?

Is this how the watch is supposed to work???

EDIT : This answers my question : https://www.reddit.com/r/AppleWatch/comments/3yjiyj/should_the_screen_light_up_w_notifications/

Me again with another noob weird question!!!!

On my calendar app today, on both my iPhone 6 and Apple Watch, it is showing it is my friend's birthday today (an entry which I created ages ago and I have just been notified about just now on my watch).

However, the watch face I am using ('Simple') is not showing this calendar entry? I have the calendar option set as the bottom option, on this watch face but it just shows 'None' next to the tiny calendar icon on the watch face:

Tapping on this 'None' icon, does indeed open the calendar app on the watch, and it does indeed then show my friend's birthday within the app - so why does it NOT show this calendar entry on the watch face itself???

:confused::confused:

EDIT (again!): Looks like this is happening because the birthday is marked as an "All Day" event. Apparently, "All Day" events do not show up on watch faces as events - also stated here in the Apple forums:

So my issue is with "all day" events and birthdays. Chatted with Apple online and they believe those are not classed as "events" as such which is why they don't show up

Another question answered by me!!!
:oops::)

I've just bought a 42mm Sports Edition Apple Watch and have a few question!!

1. When the watch is in Nightstand mode, is it possible to change the green time digits to a different colour as I can't see any options for this?

2. When choosing to show the Activity circles on various watch faces, the circles only appear in the colour you have selected for that watch face. Is there an option to have the circles in the 3 colours of the activities i.e. Have each of the circles on the watch faces in their respective colours of green, red and blue?

3. I had some sport notifications come through on my iPhone 6 (was getting the football results of a game) and these did indeed show up on my Apple Watch. However, dismissing them on my watch did NOT dismiss them from the screen of my phone - the same notification still displayed on my phone. Is this how it's supposed to work? I thought that dismissing a notification on the watch would clear it from the phone, but this did not work with the sports notifications (BBC Sport app)?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dino

You are still within your 14 day returns and John Lewis do offer the 2nd year gaurantee as well as the £50.00 off.
Also gives you a bit more time to play and test the watch (up to 3 months, but do check this) as I know you have had a few minor teething queries with the watch.
You may think its not worth the hassle though.
