I remember how Apple Watch Series 7 were supposed to be flat just like the iPhone 12 and newer. It even made me not to wait and buy AW Series 6 a month prior.

I'm sure Apple would love to talk to you about how you would accomplish your task.
If a company like Oneplus can get 100 hours out of an unoptimised platform like WearOS I’m sure the hardware geniuses at Apple, with their tight stack can go one better.

Customers are clearly happy with the weight a dimensions of the Watch as it is. Give the internals a glow up instead. The Ultra 2 is pretty close; but it to the regular model.

Very apprehensive about these rumours, we had EVERY analyst and Jon Posser telling us all the Apple Watch would be redesigned before, and it ever happened. So I am always sceptical about rumours claiming it will be, also ‘at least’ one model? That makes no sense, that implies only one model will get new sensors or the sensors will be the same which then makes you think why bother redesigning the back.

We shall see what happens with the watches next month, if they get the blood pressure monitoring or not, if not then maybe they require a redesign to fit the sensors in? It will have nothing to do with blood sugar level checks as this site states that is said to be years off yet.

Tbh I never notice the bezels on my s9 and even have it in aluminium. See also: my iPhone.

The trick is not to use any of the faces with a saturated filled in background.

Tbh I’d prefer apple to do a round watch as the dream of making the watch a mini iPhone with apps on your wrist is gone.

People want the time, complications, notifications, workout & health tracking and Siri (if it worked properly).

So let’s have beautiful Swiss watch industry inspired faces on a round screen please.

They can do what they like but it needs better internals to give it 5 days of battery or one whole day on 5G.
Totally. If you look at garmin watches, those things last days.

I’m ok about sacrificing lots of battery sapping functionality for this.

How to sell many more Apple smartwatches: make Watch Ultra truly standalone, without any dependency, not requiring other device to setup and use. No, I do not want an iPhone; even for free! Free your mind and your hands! Allowing to install any application including web browsers like Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Edge, etc. Add a camera to read QR codes, etc; best if it is telescopic rotating retractable camera in the crown neck (protecting from dust and sweat, besides privacy). Then I am sold, even for 1,000 USD or more.

More health sensors are very possible. Wonder what other design change will happen. Not expecting to see a circular Apple watch. Magnetic watch strap/band might not alone be a design change. As for Apple Intelligence, processing could be done on the paired iPhone.

my guess is that the "significant redesign" actually just means a "noticeable" redesign, but significant sounds way cooler and drives more clicks

Until they move away from the dorky square design, not interested in these watches any longer. Moved to the Garmin Fenix 8 and it absolutely blows away my AW Ultra 2 in every aspect. The fact it blends in as a normal watch due to its traditional round watch face is the icing on the cake.

Aside from displaying an analog watch face it makes no sense for a circular face on a smart watch. And you end up having to oversize the circular watch to fit content within it, which is always cut off in the corners. A square display allows for a more compact design.

A square peg in a round hole if you will.

So what I would be afraid of is that they make an "Ultra" watch with aluminum versus titanium or something. I am totally fine with the current design of the Ultra and am planning to get the Ultra 3 this year.

Me too. I’m limping along on an old series 5 SS. I got the AWU2, because of a deal($120 off), but FOMO made me return it and limp with my current set up longer. I’m hoping I made the right decision.

I'm still happy with my S9 so will wait and see what happens. Honestly I'd be happy with the S10 with just updated internals and slightly slimmed down. I've used the S10 which feels better but I think they can go further.

I want them to slim it down as much as possible. Reduce the bezel as much as possible and make the watch less round. Think of the difference between the 3GS and iPhone 4. Less round and flatter on all sides.

Oh and of course a better battery. My battery health is at 90% and I'm noticing I need to charge it more. Even at launch the battery life was not great. It's only just good enough.

At this point I don't care if it needs new watch bands. The Apple (expensive) one suck and irritate my skin. I've been using a cheap £9 one from Amazon and it's so much better quality and doesn't break out my skin.

it’s probably the Ultra because it’s such an ugly watch. Nothing elegant or futuristic about it.

It’s function is utilitarian and not elegance. People who want a utilitarian watch care about its functions more than its design. And everyone(and truly everyone) I’ve met that uses it for this purpose. Is in love with it. Including “operators”.

Is it a Rolex submariner; no, and it’s not trying to be. It’s an extremely durable watch with multiple functions and the design that enables all of those functions. Function, then form.

That all being said, I kind of like the utilitarian look. So it wouldn’t bother me anyway. You are entitled to your opinion.

The Ultra is ugly as hell.

Reminds me of an upside down candy apple

I often wonder how much of its functionality anyone uses. Beyond 3rd party fitness apps for example, do people actually use anything other than the built-in defaults?

I just want one that's round and thinner. I don't need it to do all of these fancy things, just display notifications and tell me the time.
IMO I don't think Apple will go round but if they did I think the Galaxy 8 would have been what I would have seen. Sleek, thin, machined with a circle on a square exactly like Samsung did. The Galaxy 8 is what I would have seen Apple drop if they intended to go round. There may be Galaxy haters in this thread but you got to admit that watch is amazing looking. I've seen it and it is gorgeous and a head turner. That huge round screen on that machined body and thin profile is gorgeous. Samsung drop some real bangers this year. Another difference is Samsung listens to their customers and give them what they want. Apple will never do that and that business model of theirs is not working anymore. People are bored and tired of being fed breadcrumbs.
