The reps each referred to the date range (4-6 weeks) as a "date," and specifically said that this range was one of the two (purportedly equivalent) "dates" that I was to trust.
Since they dismissed the evidence of arithmetic, I had no reason to expect them to care about English.

Your sarcastic comment about English is almost too ironic for words, given that any of these dates have only ever been estimated dates.
