I'm hoping that they don't disable the feature on sold devices. It would be an instant return of my AWU2 if so, not that I need that feature but more for the principle.

I doubt they would do that; rather since the court has ruled they will simply not install the app on new watches while the case proceeds.

Masimo should take a look at what Epic's being asked to pay for legal costs over what ended up being a pointless suit, and then check their own accounts.
It wasn't pointless. It got the government's attention and now they're looking into what Apple is doing.

The only way out is for apple to sell the entire apple watch business to Masimo for $1 and let Masimo sell all future apple watches replete with O2 functionality!

It rained in Detroit in 2018, so the Rangers won the World Series in 2023.

First, People aren't going to buy a crippled product for the same price as the full-featured one.

Second, Software isn't going to work around a hardware patent.

Apple has two choices: license the darn patents, or prove that they aren't valid to begin with. But trying to pretend that it doesn't infringe on them clearly isn't working.

I wonder if they'll disable the Blood Oxygen sensor for all watches with this feature, or just those being sold going forward. I don't even know if it's possible to make the distinction, so a blanket disabling it is!

This isn't even a question—100% certainty it will only be disabled on newly sold Watches.

clearly nobody on here has a short term memory or read anything about this before today. The watches were already banned and it only affected nee models sold. It’s already been confirmed that the feature will be disabled on newly sold watches only.
The wild card here is if you need a warranty replacement - those will have the feature disabled if they were imported after tomorrow.

Actually would super easy the watches sold since the ban could just have a new model number

Apple will pull out the LEDs and photodetectors to save money. It will have an obvious hardware difference.

Right now, if Apple deletes the SpO2 app, the hardware is useless anyway.
