Collected my replacement 42mm SS series 0 today... received exactly the same model in replacement. Appears brand new but could be refurb, I don’t know, I don’t really mind. Happy enough with the outcome. Was served by an old friend who told me she’s only aware of the sport watches being upgraded, not the stainless steel.

It’s definitely refurbished, that’s not a factory new first GEN stainless series. What Apple likely did, they replaced the battery and the display, everything else is soldered components aside from the dual ribbon connecting to the display/force touch module. [Your serial number should be matching to your existing Apple Watch/updated in their system.]
