It might well be the case that OS 4 is the last version for S0 and I don’t think there’s much grounds for complaint if it is - it definitely improved continuously throughput its life cycle. My gut, and Apple’s update track record, says it might well see a 5th major version though, perhaps missing a few features. I have the S3 now and it is leaps and bounds faster, and there is a “drag factor” in supporting older hardware though. Could go either way.

I agree. The first generation Apple Watch launched almost 3 years ago in April 2015. If it's not supported to watchOS 5, I would still say that's a decent experience for those who are still using the first generation Apple Watch, given most likely around the time of the battery replacement might be needed at the three-year mark anyways Based on usage.

The introduction of LTE has been really good for me.

There has been countless times where I've opted to go out without my phone on me whether for a workout, activity, or just spend a quiet day without worrying about the lack of ability to contact say emergencies services or my loved ones.

Why doesn't the Apple Watch support sleep tracking yet? I feel this is a huge feature missing and I use it on my
Fitbit which is half the cost constantly.

Because I don't know anybody that wears their watch to bed.

My friend's "S0" watch battery barely goes half a day now. It is really upgrade time.

I'd have gone from S2 to S3 but they lost me because they didn't do a non-LTE Stainless option.
If I was you, I would have just bought the LTE version and not activated the LTE. What would it have been $529 vs $599? $70 is $70, but that would have been my move.

It’s a surprisingly useful device. I didn’t wear a watch for years and am loving it. The attention to detail is awesome. But I have noticed bugs in recent updates.

I'm thrilled to see this kind of growth, and as a Series 2 owner, I'm not really surprised, since it's such a great product. I think a majority of people still get the Watch for fitness/health reasons, which kind of makes it a niche product, but it's still a pretty big niche!

I think the LTE version is also a big draw for runners. I know several of my friends bought AW3-LTE just to have an option of leaving your phone at home and not having to strap it to your arm or bouncing around in your pocket, being able to stream Apple Music, and never miss a call or text. They all swear by it and glad Apple did that with a LTE version.

And yet really that's pretty easy to do with any Apple Watch, just sync your running play list and with Series 2 you've got GPS anyway so no real difference.

I have a top end Series 3 watch. The telephone and internet LTE access work acceptably. But I still carry my iPhone with me almost always.

I can’t get the heart rate monitor to function worth beans. It’s a prime reason I bought the iWatch. Never had a problem with other third party chest straps syncing with my iPhone. The least bit of perspiration seems to throw the iWatch heart rate monitor off. If the iWatch is going to provide “health” device functionality, more work is needed.

Perhaps it doesn't work for you because you keep calling it an "iWatch" ;)

I don’t have - or need - one but I’ll admit that I’m surprised by how iconic it has become, recognizable immediately when you see people wearing one. Other smart watches are very hard to distinguish.

Concerning sleep tracking:

It does that. Install Cardiogram. Amazing to be able to track how changes in your lifestyle effect your sleep and your resting bpm.

Concerning "Nobody wears their watch in bed":

Oh people do. Especially the ones with heart conditions. Which is the reason I got a Series 3 as my first watch in ... phew, I believe twenty years.

The only time it leaves my wrist is for charging.

Also it frees one from checking ones iPhone if a news alert/message/call comes in and is simply a bliss to use for music streaming with the airpods.

Something that often goes unmentioned is the success of AirPods. They solve every single problem of bluetooth headphones (again headphones, not overear headsets, so don't blast me on their non-perfect sound quality.)
