Apple is getting ridiculous these days. Seems like Timmy hasn’t a glue on what’s available on the market. I really hope people are starting to vote with their wallets. That’s the only way to get a “better” Apple. China sales are good indicators. People are more technological driven over there and always want the latest and the greatest. Something Apple hasn’t offered for a long time. Their whole lineup is getting a complete mess. Only some color changes here and there and we get an 1,5 hour keynote with Timmy making micro jumps from excitement.
I love that you actually think Tim is in full control 😂 he’ll see products before they launch and heck test them, but he isn’t designing them, he isn’t telling them what to do. He’s shown products and can point at ways to improve, but the engineers will then most likely add this at a later time, to provide time to perfect said feature.
It's so tiring to see them hold back things year after year in order to give themselves easy "new features" each year.

One wonders how much more rope this routine has to give out..
to be fair their killer feature (blood pressure) ran in to last minute snags and had to be pulled before mass production. I don’t see them holding back, they just trickle things down now that people don’t upgrade annually, why chuck everything at it when in the three years since someone’s last upgrade you’ve change a whole load of bits.

I know Apple starts years in advance with their products. However, that doesn't change the fact there's 12 months between iterations.

How can you assume Apple can just add a gazillion new features to something as tiny as the Apple Watch? If you know a think or two about engineering you'd realise how difficult that would be. If you want one Apple Watch to be a huge upgrade over the previous one, that would mean Apple would have to stall upgrading previous generations to keep all of the new stuff for that giant upgrade.

Yes Apple has made compelling upgrades in 1 year upgrades, but let's not pretend it's always the case. I've known less compelling upgrades than from the S9 to S10. And when you look at the iPhone line, there's very little difference between iterations

You said "For the first time in many years, I will not be buying anything new that Apple announced at the Fall Event" and that shows you expect every single year to be worthy of an upgrade. i just cannot understand people who upgrade stuff every year.
There is a big difference between gazillion new features or a color change. I will settle with better battery life. 18 hours is just ridiculous considering you have to charge it before going to bed and charge it again during your (working)day. Huawei fit 3 which is a blatant copy of the Apple Watch manages to get 10 days battery life while only 26 grams in weight. And no… it’s no rubbish because it ain’t have an Apple logo.

Works with iPhone too and costs less than the Apple Watch SE. Look outside the closed garden and you’ll starting to see why people are starting to complain.

Apple is pushing the threshold of what’s acceptable too far for more and more people. If a keynote takes up lots of time by last years products with a color change and a new cable, expect people to notice and starting to complain.

I don’t think you like hearing the same part of a broken record over and over again, year after year. That’s the sound of Timmy’s Apple these last years.

When you hear “I’m so excited, the best yet, you’ve never seen this before” and other over the top phrases, you’ll expect more from a multi billion dollar company than some color changes, watch bands and an USB-C port.

Huh but plenty of watches have blood oxygen and blood pressure, and 1 week battery life.

So we are okay with an innovative hardware company to be lagging on developing.. hardware?
Tbf, Apple is held to a higher standard, so they’re not going to chuck in any old blood pressure sensor, they’re going to want it to be backed by studies. I believe it was due to come with S10, but ran in to a snag with the tech and had to pull it last minute.

Yeah the battery life this is a pain! However the power of the Apple Watch, I don’t think it’s ever going to last a week, but at least they added 30 min 0-80% charge.

I really thought Watch Series 10 would either disappoint on AI and improve hardware, or improve hardware and disappoint on AI.

I did not see them dropping on the ball on both fronts.

And on that note, I have to assume this is a consequence of way too many Watches sold.

-Can we please stop buying more Watches? Apple will never quit this nonsense.
Normal people really need to get in to tech lol, you all act like Apple isn’t run by humans wanting to release a product to be proud of, instead acting like it’s just Tim designing basic stuff for money 😂 enhancements take time, and with people not upgrading annually anymore - why chuck everything at it each year? It would only then force the price to increase due to R&D. It’s business and technology in the age of the saturated market. The great thing is…. If you don’t like Apple Watch, you can buy a third party 👀😂

I think they should offer a watch with less power and remove support for full apps.
At least for me it’s just a health monitor + notification device.
And some watches with app support can still achieve multiple days to a week of battery life

That’s the saddest of these. According to Timmy there are tens of thousands engineers working at Apple. Seeing how little output and progress they make is worrisome for a company that size. Even Microsoft, which core business is software, was able to introduce a compelling line of hardware and seems more vibrant than Apple these days. Same goes for Google. The new pixel pro phones look great.

Apple products are getting boring. Same designs as the year before that and the year before that and the year before that and 😴😴😴😴😴

Some minor refreshments that aren’t their own developments like better screens (Samsung), better cameras (Sony) better, let me think…, processors (Apple). All minuscule compared to the competition.

Force to increase the price due to increase of cost in R&D???

Did you know that of all big tech companies Apple spends percent wise the least of them on R&D? Have one of the biggest profit margins on their products?

It’s about time for them to offer some of those margins for giving better value for money.

Apple has become a bank institution, arrogant, lazy and purely money driven.

And yes, I blame Timmy for that.

Why sit here moaning then? Switch to Google and Microsoft?

Also you mustn’t know how tech works. While Samsung produce the display, it’s Apple’s design specifications this is one reason Apple & Samsung don’t have identical flaws in their displays.

The sensor by Sony is then also calibrated to Apple’s spec and in some cases is exclusively designed by Sony according to what Apple want/need.

It’s business - companies approach other companies to manufacture parts for them and built to their specifications and companies fall head over heels to secure these contracts, especially for the likes of Apple who tend to require their entire stockpile to fulfill orders.

I hope someday you’ll awaken out of your Apple hallelujah dream and will see that most parts of the iPhone are of the shelf parts available to anybody in the industry.

Next years camera systems in the iPhone will be from Samsung instead of Sony by the way.

Apple handles the software for those hardware. It is not the case that Apple designs or develops OLED displays nor camera systems.

One example is de dual OLED display in the M4 iPad. Apple wants you to believe they’re the only one that invented those. In the meantime Dell and many others have them already in their laptops. Something Apple will do in 2026/27 according to German 🫢

Huawei watches already have those blood oxygen measurements approved by the health industry. They’ve a healthcare laboratory in Finland which is highly accepted in the healthcare industry.

Are there even a whole lot of people who make phone calls on speakerphone on their Apple Watch? I feel like you either have your phone with you, or you leave your phone behind to go on a run and you likely have AirPods on to make and receive calls.
I absolutely do. When I get home I put my phone down and barely touch it again until I leave.

Seriously, you were considering updating an 11-12 month old apple watch? I'm rocking a series 5 and am on the fence as to if I should try to get another year out of it. Personally, I don't think any Apple product should be upgraded every year. You can easily get 4-5 years out of most products.

Yes, I was, as the rumors mentioned the possibility of a 49mm face and sensor improvements.

Respectfully, you’re putting words in my mouth. I’m not asking for a “gazillion new features”, I never said that. Yes, I expect Apple to offer owners SOMETHING compelling out of their flagship event, yearly. I’m sorry if that bothers you, but for the past few years I have been compelled to make a purchase.

Perhaps Apple SHOULD stall things a bit and not be on a 12 month cycle. If it turned into 18 months and they offered more, I think most would be fine with that.

You almost seem angry with me for how I choose to spend my money.

I resent that unnecessary and inaccurate comment. Were enthusiasts here, are we not? Are we only allowed to spread the joys of Apple, a la iJustine?

When has that happened? Sorry... I don't know iJustine.

If you use the watch without AirPods on a regular basis to make or take calls then you, sir, are the epitome of a DB.

I’ve done it on mine twice. Once to test it and the other time when I locked my phone and keys in my car and needed to call my wife to bring me a spare set of keys so I wasn’t SOL and walking a few miles to get home.

Is it nice to know if it’s windy I’ll sound better? Sure, I guess, but if you’re in a position where you have to make or take a call from the watch regularly and you don’t have the decency to use it with AirPods so everyone around you isn’t forced to hear your entire conversation then you’re modern day equivalent of Nextel guy who needed to use their phone regularly in walkie talkie mode in a poor attempt to make up for their small genitalia.

Got the Watch 10 on order and black pro max on pre preorder. I expect the watch to be a vast improvement over my Series 4 with only 67% full battery charge.

I guess I’m just anti speakerphone in general. I don’t want people to hear my conversations, and I don’t want to hear others’.
I'm generally anti-speakerphone too, but even though I very seldom use my watch for calls, it is a handy feature when I'm not near my phone and need to take a quick call from my wife or whatever. It's not something I'll do in the middle of the grocery store or sitting in a restaurant - more for when I'm at one end of the house and my phone is at the other and I don't feel like running across the house to grab my phone to pick it up, or something like that.

If the feature is there, it might as well work well.

Well it didn't work for me this year. For the first time in many years, I will not be buying anything new that Apple announced at the Fall Event. I had the watch 10 in my cart but I just couldn't pull the trigger because there's literally zero reason to buy this if you have a Series 9.
Or a series 8

I would argue it has given out years ago. I'm using S5 - and I have absolutely no reason to upgrade my watch, as all the other AW after this one are basically the same - with wxception of Ultra, of course. Why should I upgrade, if there are no REAL upgrades even after 5 years?
Will use this one, until I lose it or it becomes unusable and switching to whatever AW is the cheapest at that moment - because- whatever- they all are good enough and basically the same.
