I have both s0 and S2 SS. While I've packed up the S0 the S2 is absolutely much brighter... in direct sun. Otherwise the OS moderates the brightness. Try setting it all the way up.

Same goes for the iphone 7 which I had next go it and was brighter than my 6s sure, but nowhere as bright as the S2 in sunlight.

J could barely read the S0 SS in direct sun. Now I can.

It's because you've gone from Sport to Stainless - the 1st gen SS is much dimmer than the 1st gen Sport due to the Sapphire Crystal, so the brightness increase of the series 2 watches only bring the SS brightness to the same level as the 1st gen Sport.

Op has refused to answer any questions about the brightness setting. Also refuses to post a photo of the brightness settings.

Seems very fishy.
Yep exactly. There are a number of people on here trying in good faith to help this person and OP just seems whiny and argumentative. I don't make these same mistakes twice so I will apply my usual protocol for these types and block them. I recommend all do the same.

He seems like the kind of guy that thinks "well I've paid for 1000 nits and now I want to see 1000 nits, at all times", even if it doesn't make a lick of sense.

as said, the watch adjusts in direct sunlight but can not be put in that brightness 24/7. There is rumor on the 7 doing this but I haven't personally seen in on mine like i have my watch.

The battery would probably drain pretty quickly, and it might even shorten the life of the display to have it at 1000 nits all the time. Also, it's overkill as the indoor brightness has always been great.

Actally guys i tryied it on the sunlight and with my first gen SS and it is the same i think double brightness should be a huge jump ill make a picture and video proving there both on max brightness i dont need to lie guys, look i love apple to bits and just disappointed that the screen is the same, PR and Marketing are lies, people hate hearing negative things about there loved tech but im here to be honest and let you guys know, video coming soon

This is just stupid. Why would Apple "lie" about this? It would be a very predictable PR disaster for them. Also, many reviews already confirmed that the display is much brighter and readable in direct sunlight. So the OP is either trolling or hasn't tested in bright enough conditions or has a defective unit.

Im being honest and i have tested it if you choose not to believe me then cool but im gonna be doing a video soon for you guys to see

There is no direct sunlight in an Apple Store, hence you could not have possibly tested for the 1000 nits mode there.

Also, do you think all the reviews confirming the brighter screen are lying, too?

OK so just went outside in bright daylight and yes I was wrong, it is much brighter I'm sorry guys, I guys I just compared it with a bright light and it was the same, but in daylight it goes brighter I'm sorry I can admit I was wrong, I guess I wish it would stay the brightest all the time as in the house it seems dark, I kinda wish there was auto brightness setting like iPhone which you can turn it off, but yea I'm sorry guys I was wrong it is brighter outside

I would change the title of the thread.

If I am outside and have the watch face on and step from shade into sunlight it goes into an extra bright mode. You can watch it increase.

changed the title, maybe in the future apple will add auto brightness off mode so can stay at max, like my iPhone, but will see :) the speed is a huge jump its so much faster

Always having it at 1000nits would kill the battery pretty fast.
