I love how people are afraid of cell phone radiation but get into their cars or have terrible diets without a second thought.
was wondering what you thoughts are on LTE affects on the body? Radiation? Constantly connected to skin, etc. I understand that everyone and their grandmother has a smartphone these days, but we don’t typically sleep with it right on our hands or in pockets..so I feel like it’s ok per se. the watch however is on our bodies constantly, and would cellular connectivity omit harmful radiation? I have stainless steel series 2 right now and feel hassitent to get the 3 (ss at least since it only comes with LTE)..I know it’s apples big selling point, but I came across articles earlier that the problem is not WiFi or Bluetooth but rather the cellular connectivity. Thoughts on this?
STOP making sense. All these people will then learn that visible light puts out the same radiation (just a higher frequency) as the LTE and be afraid to turn on a light since all radiation (even heat
) is 'bad' and causes cancer.

You folks are playing stupid? It is of course about electromagnetic radiation. That banana probably gives out more ionizing radiation than your microwave too. Would you stick your head in the oven and turn it up for a few seconds?THIS!!!
SO MUCH THIS!!!

Not sure what point you think you're trying to make - microwave ovens are purpose crafted to emit (a lot of!) energy at a frequency absorbed by water molecules, thereby heating them up. Thereby making your food hot. Why would anyone want to put their heads in such a device? (Assuming it was at all possible, considering the mandatory safety measures built into these things.)Would you stick your head in the oven and turn it up for a few seconds?

The point of the comparison is to help people distinguish between ionizing radiation and electromagnetic radiation. Most people see the word radiation and think they are the same. So the point is that ionizing radiation CAN cause cancer and electromagnetic radiation (visible light included) will be absorbed as energy/heat and doesn't ionize atoms. My point is that the comparison of electromagnetic radiation of a cell phone with the ionising radiation of a banana is really stupid and ignorant. Comparing the banana with your microwave highlights that. Because although it is emitting zero ionising radiation the frequency and intensity of the electromagnetic radiation can kill you.

Did you read the OP?I didn't have the impression people believe cell phones are radioactive. Most people are worried about electromagnetic radiation, including a lot of scientist. Just like ionising radiation electromagnetic radiation can cause cancer.
Just seems to me you think EMR is harmless by nature as it is not ionising radiation. That is a false conclusion - see my microwave example.

Drinking water can kill a person, if you drink enough of it quickly enough. Would you from that information draw the conclusion people should stop drinking water?Because although it is emitting zero ionising radiation the frequency and intensity of the electromagnetic radiation can kill you.
You're making a nonsensical comparison. "Electromagnetic radiation" covers a vast spectrum of frequencies and energies, some of them ionizing and most not. UV light is non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation, and it can cause cancer. Wifi radio frequencies sit below the visible spectrum, and they cannot cause cancer.Just like ionising radiation electromagnetic radiation can cause cancer.

I just stuck my head in mine and the extreme "radiation" made it "appear" like it needed cleaning. After reading some of these comments, I just might.
In any case my oven doesn't get that hot after just a few seconds so I think I'm safe in any case.

Although wifi access points and microwave ovens share the same frequency spectrum (2.4GHz band), there's several magnitudes in intensity between the two different devices. Even if you slept with a wifi access point under your pillow there's no way you could be harmed in any way. Well, unless the electronics in the AP overheated from lack of proper ventilation and caught fire of course...

Making blanket statements about EM radiation and handwavy suggestions about percieved dangers associated with the same is unscientific and incorrect.
[doublepost=1541202779][/doublepost]There were also scientists who thought that smoking was fine; that roundup couldn’t hurt anyone; that DDT was safe. This is quickly changing technology and it isn’t tested by anyone for safety—except for the SAR rating, which is worthless, because it only measures heat.) Speaking of that: Would you put your head next to a microwave while it’s on?There’s “scientists” who believe the earth is flat or that climate change isn’t real if you look on the internet...
No it isn’t. The current manual says:It’s even advised in the iPhone manual that you maintain distance and never put the phone next to your head.
If you go to the linked page, it says:Radio frequency exposure iPhone uses radio signals to connect to wireless networks. ForTo reduce exposure to RF energy, use a hands-free option, such as the built-in speakerphone, the supplied headphones, or other similar accessories. Cases with metal parts may change the RF performance of the device, including its compliance with RF exposure guidelines, in a manner that has not been tested or certified. information about radio frequency (RF) energy resulting from radio signals, and steps you can take to minimize exposure, go to Settings> tap General > About > Legal > RF Exposure, or go to the RF Exposure website.![]()
Neither of those constitutes a specific recommendation that you should be routinely taking steps to reduce exposure, nor do they say that you shouldn’t put the phone next to your head. I could spend quite a bit more time taking apart the rest of the tinfoil hattery and pseudoscience in your post, but it’s Saturday and I can’t be bothered. Stop spreading FUD.To reduce exposure to RF energy, use a hands-free option, such as the built-in speakerphone, the supplied headphones, or other similar accessories. Except that the watch uses a low power version of the radio that is exponentially safer than the iPhone. This is part of the reason the watch will not get a signal the iPhone does. Some radio towers don’t support the low power version of the antenna that the watch uses.I believe the point that’s attempting to be made is that there’s a substantial difference between having EMFs around you in the air vs having an EMF source on your body.
As documented, EMF exposure drops substantially every time the source distance doubles. This is why an iPhone on the ear presents much more exposure than an iPhone at reading distance. So even though an Apple Watch emits much less than an iPhone, the fact that it’s sitting in direct contact with your skin does present some cause for concern.

Apple would be bankrupt if their products could have any impact on your health. Don’t worry about it.
