AND let me guess, those like me, the obstinate codgers with grandfathered plans won't be able to add an Apple Watch 3 to our plans.

You can't call them greedy now, can you. HELL YES YOU CAN CALL THEM GREEDY!!!

Totally agree after 3 years of ownership you would have been able to buy another whole non-LTE Apple watch.

I've been wanting an iPhone mini for years. This is more mini than I had planned, but I'm going to give it a shot.

I was hoping the LTE Apple Watch would allow me to leave my phone inside or home more often yet I could still receive messages and phone calls. However, I'm not interested in giving my carrier $10/month for this convenience.

Does anyone know if the shared number device has to pay taxes on top of the $10 a month?
That would make it $16 a month for me.

I have an iPad on my account and it gets charge $0.08 in taxes every month her in Peoria IL. So I'm guessing the Watch will be about the same. Obviously other states/counties/cities have different tax rates so yours probably won't be the same as mine, but I would think the Watch will be charged whatever taxes iPads get charged in your area. The watch is not a phone so it shouldn't be taxed the same as a phone, it is a data only device just like an iPad.

[doublepost=1505429808][/doublepost]This is going to be great for running. Now I can leave the phone behind so a little less weight to carry. Plus $10 per month is practically free, if $10 bucks a month is going to make or break you, probably shouldn't be in the smart watch category anyway.

Actually, the way you accumulate wealth is to not piss away money. There are lots of things that I can easily afford, I'm just not accustomed to paying more than things are worth or for things that I don't need.

Where in the US do you live that charges you 60% tax? You meant 10.06?

The ATT agent wasn’t sure as ATT hasn’t trained all the CSRs on the line what.
They believed it would have its own line but the main number would be linked.
So all the taxes, state, fed, give someone a free phone and fcc would be applicable

Where in the US do you live that charges you 60% tax? You meant 10.06?

Here's what I pay per line on my family account:

Surcharges & fees $3.00
Administrative Fee $0.76
Federal Universal Service Charge $0.99
Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge $1.25
Government taxes & fees $2.58
County E911 $1.50
County Sales Tax - Telecom $0.37
State Sales Tax - Telecom $0.71

So that $15 phone line becomes $20.58

Don't know how much of that applies to the $10/mo device plan, I've never felt enough need to add one.

BTW - 6% on $10 is $10.60 not $10.06

I think Apple made a huge mistake by not having the apple watch cycle be 1.5 years. There is too little improvement to keep upgrading a 300 dollar watch every year. They have shown their hand and made it a trend to release a new watch every yearly. Cheers to the next innovation.

Apple Watch Series 3 is available with built-in cellular capabilities, allowing you to make phone calls, send and receive text messages, stream music, get directions with Apple Maps, use Siri, and more without a paired iPhone.

The freedom comes at a cost, however, as Apple Watch Series 3 models with cellular are priced $70 higher than those with Wi-Fi and GPS only. Also, to access LTE, the watch must be added to your phone bill as an additional monthly charge.

Here's a breakdown of how much participating carriers plan to charge. Some carriers have yet to announce their plans.

Verizon

Verizon said it allow customers to add an Apple Watch to an eligible plan for $10 per month. Verizon will reportedly waive its $30 activation fee, and is offering the first three months of service for free. The watch and iPhone share the same phone number via Verizon's NumberShare feature.

AT&T

AT&T has announced that customers can add an Apple Watch to an eligible plan for $10 per month. AT&T is offering a $25 activation fee credit, and a $30 service credit for adding an Apple Watch, within three bills. The watch and iPhone share the same phone number via AT&T's NumberSync feature.

T-Mobile

T-Mobile has announced that customers can add an Apple Watch to a plan for $10 per month with AutoPay. T-Mobile will reportedly waive its $25 new SIM card kit fee, and is offering the first three months of service for free. The watch and iPhone share the same phone number via T-Mobile's DIGITS feature.

Sprint

Sprint has announced that customers can add an Apple Watch to an eligible plan for $10 per month. Sprint will also offer a special introductory three-month cellular plan trial. The carrier has yet to specify whether its activation fee of up to $30 per line will be waived as well, but it would seem likely.

Bell (Canada)

Bell has announced that customers will be able to add an Apple Watch to an eligible plan for $5 per month. There is a one-time $10 activation fee. Bell will also offer a special introductory three-month cellular plan trial. The watch and iPhone share the same phone number via Bell's NumberShare feature.

Bell will not support the Apple Watch's cellular capabilities in Manitoba or Saskatchewan due to the carrier's lack of VoLTE in those provinces.

EE (UK)

EE has announced that customers can add an Apple Watch to an eligible SIM only or pay monthly plan for £5 per month, with the watch and iPhone sharing the same phone number. The carrier hasn't confirmed if it will be offering an introductory three-month trial, or if there will be an activation fee.

If you purchase your Apple Watch Series 3 directly through EE, the total monthly cost could reportedly be as high as £25, including unlimited data and the price of the watch. A tipster informed MacRumors that the unlimited data will only be for the first six months, with a limit of 10GB per month afterwards.

Deutsche Telekom (Germany)

Deutsche Telekom has announced that customers can add an Apple Watch to an eligible plan for up to EUR4.95 per month, with the first six months free of charge. The watch and iPhone share the same phone number via Deutsche Telekom's MultiSIM feature. The carrier didn't specify if there is an activation fee.

Apple Watch Series 3 models will be available to order starting tomorrow, September 15, at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time. In-store availability begins September 22. LTE-enabled models start at $399 in the United States.

[doublepost=1505590540][/doublepost]Just spoke with Sprint and they're charging $15 per month to add the Apple Watch...unless you sign up for autopay and allow them free access to pull their money from your account. Only if you sign up will it be $10 per month. Such BULL! I don't let anyone take money from my account. Did that one time and the company double dipped and it took me three months to get it straight and get my money back. From then on no autopay!

Your god dam*nd right!!!!! I mean, come on. Your not using additional data from your phone. Your either using your phone.......that you have ALREADY PAID FOR......or using the watch, in which case if you didnt have, you'd be using phone. So, as you said, its NO ADDITIONAL COST to the carrier. WTF!!!!! I would be furious if I was Apple. You put in all this work, shrinking down the tech to get LTE in a watch so it can work independent of phone, all so the carriers can just screw any sales by charging customers to use it. Again......WTF!!!!! It would be like having to pay extra to operate the air conditioning in your car. Or having to pay Sony to operate the Cd player in your car when they first came out. Here you go everyone, now you got great cd sound in your car........that will be $10 a month please.
But we already paid for car, AND cd player????

Dude, chill. The extra costs are likely from government imposed telephone line access fees and related taxes. Carriers have no control over that.

Totally agree after 3 years of ownership you would have been able to buy another whole non-LTE Apple watch.

I had a friend who had a rather morose and depressing view of reality, who would sometimes say 'F**k me harder!' when things decidedly weren't going his way. HAH!!! During a meeting for a group that I volunteer for, I was so mystified and disgusted at the way things were going, I actually uttered that phrase, and have used it MANY TIMES since.

So, AT&T, F**K ME HARDER, but it would be DAMN NICE if you brought clean sheets, and some damn dinner and something more than a bottle of piss to drink.

I can see why they say people that swear are happier and better people. Throug the use of that phrase, I've probably saved countless lives from listening to me bitch about what a poopy world this is, and how it's becoming poopier.

I was told by verizon chat that to have the 3 months free and activation free, the apple watch would need to be bought through the carrier. I thought apple was the one paying the carriers for this but I guess not.

Just learned that Chinese carrier China UNICOM only charges 10 Chinese RMB/month for AW3. Man, that's <2$ per month. And the free trial lasts through end of 2018. That's free for ONE freaking year! That should be the proper way to go!
